An inexpensive high tech upgrade!
This is an excellent option if you don't have the desire to wire a reverse camera. I had a super easy install on my H3, just followed the directions. I had to put the camera at the bottom of the plate due to clearance issues at the top from my license plate light. No problem as you can just flip the image in the settings and away you go! For the guy who says that there are no lines.... Read the manual and simply turn on this function as it is off as a default and voila you have lines you want it, works great! I had no issue with signal strength, as I have full bars of signal from the rear bumper of my H3 the camera and monitor pair every time you turn it on flawlessly. This unit arrived fast and was in mint, new condition. It was sold as a refurbished but you would never know as it appeared new and never mounted. Anyway works flawless, allows you to see out in back of your vehicle as designed, not high resolution mind you but for the 30 seconds you need it not an issue. No more driving over the kids bikes, pets, etc. The only upgrade I made to the unit was at the rear of the two side photo charging cells where the wire enters them it is open to the elements and would allow dirt and moisture into the electronics and eventually cause failure so a dab of silicone on each side in the back to cover this exposed area and it should survive our Manitoba winters now! As far as dash mounting I already had a disc for my GPS so I just used it and swap the two units back and forth as needed. A super inexpensive solution if you have limited visibility out the back of your vehicle (which I did). Nice solid quality and appears that it should last, Whistler is a good name in vehicle electronics. I would buy one of these again and highly recommend it.

Doesn't come with an activation code making it unusable - UPDATED
Requires a product activation code in order to use it. Didn't come with the activation code and when I call or go to the website in order to retrieve one it tells me that it wasn't purchased at an authorized dealer. So after purchasing and assembling the product I'm now told I can't use it. Very disappointed with this product. Update: I was able to get an activation key directly from Whistler by calling their support number. They informed me that officially this product is only sold by Walmart.

Just Be Careful with Whistler
My Wife bought one of these for Christmas a couple of years ago. It was easy to hook up and worked well in my F250 extended cab pickup. After about 1-1/2 years the picture quality started dropping off. I contacted Whistler and they told me it would be $65 to fix the unit, so I took it off the truck and sent it in. About a month later I was told they needed payment (which I had already provided on my credit card) and I told them that was supposed to have been taken care of by them at this point. Finally, it was straightened out. They contacted me and said they were going to send me a whole new unit; which they did. I got the new unit and it would not fit the license plate like the original did (see picture). I called them and told them what was going on and they said that they would replace it. So now, many months later, I still have not received it. However, I did not just wait for it. After a couple of weeks went by, I tried calling them and was told I'd get it. That was the last of the phone calls they answered. I use to drive a tractor trailer over the road and used Whistler's products for years. This has soured me from buying from them ever again. My wife said the original cost was around $120. Then I sent the old unit back and paid Whistler $65 for repairs. Yes, I got a new unit, but might as well be a non-unit as it will not fit the license plate. DO be VERY careful with Whistler. Very careful. At this point I personally will never patronize them again.

More a toy than vehicle safety equipment.
You get what you pay for. Actually, it’s over-priced. It’s worth about $20. 1. Picture quality is poor. You can adjust brightness only, otherwise it’s like a child’s toy. 2. The alignment lines more in the way than functional. They float from the bottom to the top of the screen. 3. The amount of time the reverse picture appears on the screen is too short. It comes on automatically when you start the car or power is applied via the cigarette lighter. So, I turn on my truck and the backup camera “boots up” and then the camera comes on and within seconds it goes back off before I finish backing into my parking space. It’s a great idea, but poor execution.
