The Epigenetics Revolution: How Modern Biology Is Rewriting Our Understanding of Genetics, Disease, and Inheritance

The intriguing storyline of a largely unexplored field!
I've bought these two books after watching a seminar presented by Nessa Carey, the writer of these two masterpieces. I found this book so intriguing that I spent several sleepless nights on reading this one followed by getting print outs of the reference articles and going through them along with two more text books to get more of this topic. Moved by the piculiarity and the adventure of a largely unexplored field of Epigenetics, now I am preparing to deliver my credit seminar on this subject. Just buy this book and start reading it. I swear, no matter from what academic background you are from, you'll feel the charm of it as the way it has been written is so lucid and from very basic level that it is easily understandable by everyone. All I can say, this is the "must have book" to command over this subject. Still thinking? Go get a copy now!

Book content is great, delivery and book storage facility should be improved
Book content is great really enjoying it.Would be better for the reader if they have knowledge of biology of class 11 and 12.Book condition was fine some stains were there in introduction and index pages on margins but not bad enough to return it and main content was safe from any damage paper quality is great in my opinion. There was some type of oily thing on back cover but it came out on e wiped with a clean cloth probably this liquid caused those yellow stains as there were a very very little paper degraded due to that I believe or either because of insects.Would by a new edition in future probably hardcover if it ever get affordable because hardcovers are better quality.

A refreshing treatise.
Read the books in this order. Song of the Cell, Emperor of All Maladies, The Gene, The Code Breakers, The Epigenetic Revolution.

The book is well written, fairly technical but worth reading
The book is fascinating and is a page turnerIt contains some fairly technical components that sometimes need to be looked up to understandOverall a great read..... Moreover the page quality and cover quality is amazingGood read

If genetics was everything every pair of twins would have ...
If genetics was everything every pair of twins would have the same diseases, which is not the case. If a person has diabetes his twin has only a 50% chance of getting the disease, this book comprehensively explains why its not 100%. The paradigm shifting concepts of epigenetics are explained clearly. The discussion of interaction of environment with genes during embryogenesis is exciting. This book also explains why gene therapy will remain a pipe dream in the near future until we learn to manipulate genes.

Solid Work.
How many of us gone roumd and round a location, failing to find it, despite it being shown neatly and boldly in the Google Map or site?Nearly everyone, haven’t we?Why? Those maps have been prepared with the help of inputs from satellites and many other reliable, high-end sources. All that should have made things easier. But reality is rather different. Why?This book is NOT about that. But it deals with a similar problem, which actually affects us more. You see, the Human Genome Project had given us this idea that with this 'map', problems of human body can be sorted out quickly and efficiently. But that hasn’t happened. Instead, better understanding of genetics have made those notions even more fallible. This book, rather than lamenting over such problems, tries to find answers using cutting edge research in a newly (but fast) developing area called epigenetics. It’s not an easy book. It’s not even very readable, being devoid of pop-culture or literary references. But content-wise it’s a very good book.Recommended.

Excellent book
Book is really good for someone who is inclined towards epigenetics. It adds new level of regulation in gene expression and this book is perfect to understand this philosophically.

Interesting topic but too technical
The writer is definitely an excellent scientist but her writing skill for lay person needs to be seriously improved. There are too many technical terms which are explained inadequately or left unexplained. Many times the book feels monotonous and attempts at humor sound forced and not smooth. Overall, an interesting topic but presented in a less than lucid way.
