North Gear Camping Trekker Waterproof 6 Man 2 Room Tent

The North Gear Camping Trekker is very easy to pitch, as was demonstrated by our motley crew at 11pm in the dark while marginally under the influence. Bearing in mind this was the first time we had seen it out of the box, we managed to get it fully functional in around 15 minutes. Once fully erect the curious dimensions of this tent became glaringly apparent. The 'reception area' as it became known was truly tardis-esque and excellent for greeting guests and entertaining. I am not particularly grand in stature (5'8") but I could stand and mingle without fear of denting my quiff. The other two gentlemen in the group were slightly larger at a little over 6' but neither seemed to take issue with the headroom. This however led to our main grievance with the Camping Trekker. With a gentleman of larger proportions in each sleeping area it left little room for another. The 6 man capacity I would say is fairly optimistic or aimed at an altogether smaller demographic. I had purchased a canvas style camp bed for added comfort which wouldn't fit in the sleeping compartments, leading to me sleeping in the 'reception area'. As this area does not come with a ground sheet and is effectively a tarp draped over tent poles it didn't provide the gale-free environment I prefer when sleeping in a field. By day however this tent was excellent, providing lots of room for changing and preparing food. The double door panels (one on each side) also allowed venting of manly odours come morning time, avoiding any awkward 'dry boke' moments by the evening's guests.

I love this tent. It is massive. Packs up well. Is easy to put up providing you’ve got opposable thumbs and know what a tent is, despite what some of the reviews here say. It is a 6 person tent, so it does take a bit to put it up. I put it up on my own in about 20 mins, taking about 25 mins to take down. Depending on usage, you might want to buy a groundsheet for the middle section, but depending on your plans, you might not need this.

We got the tent to go to creamfields festival & on arrival ( a bit too late to do anything about it now) we realised that one of the rooms was completely wrong. It was a room from a much smaller tent.So 4 males then had to squeeze into 1 small stuffy room. It was a complete disaster.

It looks just like the picture, and goes up quite easily - a bit tricky to pack away again and quite heavy in its carry case - great fun for the kids on camping holidays and in the back garden but a bit too bulky for taking to a Festival I reckon.

Best thing I’ve bought off amazon. Great for Leeds Fest as it’s tall, you’ll have no problem getting changed and hanging in the middle section. When it rained we fit about 12 people in. Also very easy to put up and a great height to find in a festival as it towers over all the other tents!
