A neighbor of mine suggested that I try milk thistle to combat the effects of the drug tamoxifin. I am a breast cancer survivor and take tamoxifin daily which can affect your liver. I wanted to make sure that I took every natural precaution I could to ensure that I combat any possible liver problems I might incur from the drug. I was on tamoxifin a year before I started taking this milk thistle supplement. I have now been on milk thistle for three months and my oncologist just did my blood work and commented on how much better my blood work came out than the previous months. She asked me what I was doing to have such excellent results and I told her about the milk thistle. The only addition to my vitamin regime has been the milk thistle and I have more energy, sleeping better, and certainly producing better liver blood work! I have an elderly Boston Terrier who had high blood platelets on his last blood work and he is now on the dog version of milk thistle. He has been on it two months now and I see a huge difference in his attitude and energy levels. He will get his blood work done in two months so we will see how his blood work comes out. For me, I can truly say that this organic milk thistle has made a great difference to me. And, it is also showing in my blood work so something must be going on. Milk Thistle is unique in its ability to protect the liver and has no equivalent in the pharmaceutical drug world! I guess the question comes to finding a trusted brand, since there are so many on the market! I have done my research and carefully examined the ingredients that are on the back of the bottle in “Supplement Facts” and to my surprise I found out that many companies add such nasty ingredients as titanium dioxide, silicone dioxide and others which are very harmful for us. Make sure you ALWAYS read the small print on the back of the bottle and understand what you are buying. Do not just trust catchy lines as “Maximum strength” or “Ultra Thistle”, READ WHAT IS ACTUALLY INSIDE OF THE CAPSULE!DRINKWEL is by far THE HIGHEST QUALITY brand I found on Amazon, which is not only organic, but also doesn’t have any harmful additives inside of the capsule. Drinkwel’s content of Milk Thistle (Silybum Marianum) is pretty high, which is 500 mg per capsule, and it’s an organic veggie capsule! I think it is the best deal for the price. I am glad I found a brand I can trust and it’s always nice to find a company that does care about its customers.

Had some issues with abnormal liver enzymes, not sure why (either did my doctor) - I have a very good diet, non-drinker, etc. Tests showed a fatty liver (have lost weight since, but doctor said I was not obese or much overweight). I checked out milk thistle, found out it has been used for many many years worldwide, and could not find any side effects. After taking 1 capsule daily for one month, my enzymes levels are normal. I only lost about 6 lbs., so I think this product might have helped. No side effects, I took after a full meal to make sure it was not going to bother my stomach.

As non-drinker, I have a history of fatty liver and elevated liver enzymes. My ALT usually runs over 100. My doctor changed all my meds that could affect and caused elevated liver enzymes. Since the changed my lab reports showed a decreased of 40 points. I still want to lower or least within the normal ranges. So I started my own research and come across this Milk Thistle. It's also used to lower cholesterol, cirrhosis and diabetes. For me I think it's worth to try it.

I am a non-drinker but still had "fatty liver". Used for 3 months before having new blood work, and was amazed that all my numbers were back to normal. I am currently on a protocol requiring milk thistle as well as a multitude of other herbs and tinctures. I wanted the experience to go or be as effective as possible and I research everything that I purchase. I purchase herbs in bulk, encapsulated, and tinctures from various companies however few respond after a purchase. I was required to take 1000mg of milk thistle at night for 30 days; however in a nutshell everything pretty much ends up going through the liver and I wanted a pure, certified organic product that I would be able to take for an extended period of time; I knew it would be more than 30 days. I am very pleased to have found a quality organic milk thistle; you really do have to do the research. This is an excellent product and wonderful, caring company.

The neurologist I see that specializes in migraines had me take milk thistle to protect the liver from some of the other natural headache remedies that can be hard on your liver. While doing the treatment this helped keep my liver functions in check.Probably good to keep alcohol from affecting your liver for that occasional drink and any fat that you eat as well. I'm no doctor but a doctor recommended it for me. I have my husband take it as well. Great product.

I love this brand! I received them quickly and trust that they are top quality. I regularly go to an acupuncturist who has told me before that we need to focus on my liver. Not even a month after taking it, I went back to my acupuncturist who said my liver was working much better. (I didn't even tell him about taking the supplement until after!)
