Epic: The Story God Is Telling

Wonderful book for anyone who loves movies and books, narrative , anyone who’s a sucker for a great cinematic saga or classic novel, all of which have the same theme: The Battle between Good and Evil. John Eldridge does a beautiful job illuminating WHY and HOW the reoccurring archetypal themes that have ALWAYS been in the human mind, since ancient mythology up to the latest movie in the theaters… This eternal story: the Hero, the Maiden needing rescue, the Villain, the Sacrifice, the great coming full circle of events, …. GOD wrote this story and imprinted it into all of our hearts.. the extent to which we see and embrace this is equal to the extent to how much we are able to take our place in the story and be part of an Eternal Legacy. I’ve given this as a gift many times. One of my favorite books. <3

Amazing telling of THE story. Way to read, easy to relate to. I’ve shared with teens, adults and seniors and all have appreciated it.

Loved this book! It is a skillfully written explanation of God's plan from Creation through Fall, Redemption and Restoration. It also adds that there was a stage before creation. Everyone is born into a story and must figure out what it means. God's grand narrative awaits for every person to discover. Best thing about it is that it is very short yet expounds this overview of the biblical panorama in language that is engaging and very understandable. Highly recommended.

One of Eldredge's best. The Story we live is not ours, but God"s, and we need to remember not only that God wins, but that He wants to restore mankind to hoe He created it. He is doing it now. Read it, surrender to Christ, and live in the image you were created to live!

This is a fantastic quick read to reorient our minds to the true picture of what is. We are in a battle but before we see that we need to see we are being pursued and wooed by the hero and chosen to participate. Will we say yes! Our hearts tell us it is so.

The world is hungry, no starving, for this message. It is a message of hope, a message of truth, of life. Each time I read it, I was reminded of the Great Story in which I was placed, God's great love for the world, and for me and of my place in the story.

One of the most enjoyable yet profound reads. I enjoyed Eldridge's readable style and was repeatedly challenged and encouraged by his insight.

This is a great little book because it draws people in to the full story God is telling and is great for helping people understand that there is a lot more to God's story than the little portion we can see. I find it particularly helpful to help Christians understand the full expanse of God's epic story that transcends the tiny fragment of time that we know as our lifetime.

What an amazing book following it’s title! So easy to read and so full of truth. John Eldridge is so in tune with how our Christian life should look and challenges us all to live it that way as a model for others. It’s wonderful to look forward to the next and eternal stage!
