I can’t think of a worse ‘action’ sequel
I’m a big fan of Denzel’s work and looked forward to his second outing as Robert McCall. If you’re expecting much of the same then dial down your expectations. A lot.In the first movie, Denzel was slim and fit – believable as a killer in the same league as John Wick. Here, he knew the sequel was coming and just doesn’t seem to have made the effort; he grew out his hair, looks older and out of shape, which is good because the amount of action in this film is almost negligible (probably about 10% of ‘The Equalizer’ - and a body count of about 10% that of 'John Wick 2'). So, an action movie without much action. In the end, we learn a few more things about his past, but the two hours dragged so leadenly that I was actually just relieved when the movie ended. Needless to say, I won’t ever be watching it again. It’s difficult to believe that both movies were written by the same scriptwriter. This was such a huge waste; no new ideas, no imagination, everything telegraphed, clichéd and predictable. Even the same stream of unnecessary ‘F you’ and the same iconic theme.

I cannot believe that I nearly didn't watch this movie because of a negative feedback.
Totally awesome movie, good storyline, thought-provoking messages, atmospheric and stylish thriller with action in the right places and great fight scenes. What a terrific film, anyone who gave this a bad review doesn't know diddly-squat about movies, great acting as well and Denzel Washington is magnificent as always. Highly recommended, but don't watch this with distractions, you need to pay attention to really appreciate the film. I was riveted from beginning to end, even though I watched this late and really wanted to go to bed, I couldn't switch it off.

Excellent sequel
I have no idea why there are bad reviews here... did you even watch the same film as me?? This was an excellent sequel. It developed the character history and included less cliche locations... excellent endings and fight scenes. Guys... watch it again, I think you missed most of it.

McCALL SERVES OUT JUSTICE HIS WAY
This a sequel to Denzel Washington's 2014 Equaliser movie based if but loosely on the 80's Edward Woodward TV series of the same name.Former Marine and Defence Intelligence Agency Spy Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) works as a driver helping out those less fortunate, as always he still has the intent on levelling the score when seeing injustices.McCall isn't a man one wants to cross or upset..........When Friend Susan Plummer and her colleague are called to investigate a murder and apparent suicide in Brussels, Susan (Melissa Leo) herself is murdered apparently during a robbery in her hotel-room........well, Robert will make it his business to find out what really happened which will eventually lead to a showdown with the culprits. With several other earlier incidents to deal with using his efficient skills the film builds up nicely.Though in my view perhaps not the equal of the earlier film Denzel is always worth watching on-screen, this one does again have several good action sequences to enjoy.

If you do not like bloody films this is not for you, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am 71.
I watched the Equalizer and thought that was excellent. I was a bit dubious about the sequel but found it to be just as excellent and may I say even better than the first.

Enjoyable - Slightly Oddly Paced
Now I really liked the first Equaliser film and unlike some enjoyed this one as well although there is a slightly different tone to it.Firstly having read some reviews that are on the negative side, the general feeling is that the pacing is slow during most of the film. I found that this was the better part of the film. In fact the first 4/5ths which had a slow burn had considerably more tension and interest than the finale, where our hero does most of his stuff. The first and largest part of the film had a slower pace but gave a better sense of build up and storyline - with some action chucked in - and seemed to suit the idea of the 'Equaliser' more than the rather faster ending which to my mind slightly jarred and seemed out of place. No matter, overall this is a film that is well acted, with Denzel Washington as ever a highly engaging actor who knows his chops combined with a story and enough action to make this a generally superior action thriller.I don't think it was any better or worse than the first film and I'm happy enough to say overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Predictable
I enjoyed the first film, and I like Denzel Washington a lot. I'm also old enough to remember watching the original Edward Woodward series, and loved that. All of the above convinced me to buy this sequel. Well, yeah, I enjoyed it as an action film, but it was so predictable in its storyline, and even small plot points, as to be ridiculous. You could see how each set piece was going to play out as it began, with only one move by McCall catching me unawares. I like to be surprised by plot lines, and with a more inventive story this would have been worth five stars, because the actors, action sequences and production values were all excellent.
