Great survival matches
You can't beat these matches. Had used similar ones in the military but much more expensive. These matches will not go out in rain or submerged when lit. They bubble underwater but within 2 seconds out of water they ignite. I've used these in the field many times. Won't go in the bush without them. Only difference I noticed from normal matches. These go out as soon as the ignition source ends. Other matches ignite the wooden stick and keep an ember. But...these burn so hot for about 15 seconds I dont think you need to worry about an ember like normal match sticks. Be advised...these matches need to burn out completely...you can not blow them out or extinguish with water. After they burn out they are still very hot and flammable to other sources so excercise caution. These are emergency matches for survival or harsh environments. Don't use these to light a candle for a romantic dinner. Actually I dont recommend using them indoors at all. I'm assuming its phosphorus but not sure...they put off a smell and smoke for short duration. My only gripe is the strikers. I bought extra striking paper and adhered to the one side of box. These matches use up alot of the striker during ignition. For emergency use you can't beat the price vs quality.

Horribly weak sticks
I don't know if I got a bad package or what but the wood is super weak, so when I strike the match, it snaps in multiple pieces. I can get them to light but I end up with a super short match.

these are more like a mini flair than a match
be careful! these are more like a mini flair than a match! I have not tested outdoors in bad weather but you sure do not want to try and light candles, cigarettes, or lanterns with this! I see how they are great for lighting a fire in wind and rain for sure. My boyfriend tried to light a candle indoors and we had a holy s**t moment. Great product just don't use it like a regular match that's all I am saying.

Perfect in a Pinch!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is a demonstration of the UCO matches I purchased here on Amazon.com. As you can see they work fairly well! These are a must have for the backpacker/camper, I also purchased an Exotac MatchCap Match Case/Safe BLACK to accompany these matches. I was able to fit 13 matches, and I only had to cut about 1mm off the wooden end to get them to fit.

I miss the old Farmer Matches but these are far superior
We live in the country and burn most all of our Paper and Cardboard to save on trips to the "Dump". I tried to find the old, Red tip, farmer matches. All you can find are these "Crappy" green things that either won't light or the stick breaks when trying to strike them. I love these matches. They'er a bit pricey and you only get 50, or so, in a box but, they light with veeery little striking force. The burn very hot. If you've ever tried to light cardboard with a match, it's almost impossible. These burs so hot that they can actually light up cardboard - one match only.Still pricey for 50 matches but they do work well.

I LOVE these matches
I LOVE these matches! After I received them, I wanted to be sure they lived up to the performance as outlined in the description. I filled the sink with water, lit a match and tossed it in. It sputtered a bit then went out. I took it out of the water, gave it a shake or two and it relit. I repeated the process, using the same match, two more times and each time it relit. Although I also have a magnesium firestarter and a bar-b-que type lighter in my emergency kits, if ever needed, I would probably start with these matches. I do recommend them for any emergency kit. (They are a bit long so be checking for a long water-proof case. I cut the ends - about 1/8th inch off of mine.)

Fast shipping for a good product.
These come in a two pack container and each package of 25 has a separate plastic wrapped package of extra strikers included. The matches are in a plastic bag inside the individual box, but the baggie is not sealed. The striker on the outside of the box isn't very durable, so keep that in mind when you pack them in your kit. I haven't tried the extra strikers, so I don't know if they are better than the ones on the box. I plan on wrapping one of these with two strike anywhere matches in a bit of cotton ball to make a super match. They work pretty good and make a strong flame. The UCO matches do reignite if dipped in water while they are burning, and the same goes if you blow it out. As long as the match coating has not been consumed, they will reignite and burn. I tried lightly abrading the coating on the head of the match before striking it on the box and couldn't tell if it made any difference or not. My advice is to practice with one of the boxes before relying on the other one to start a fire. In any event it is probably easier than using a fire drill to get an ember. Got the package in a couple of days. Very fast shipping.

Match test:1) Open package, dip match in water, strike.... Stick breaks at the bottom.2) Repeat with what's left.... it ignites.....3) Dip in water glass.... It bubbles but doesn't go out.4) Pull out of water a couple of times.... it flames up by itself again.5) As flames burns down to my finger... blow out... it won't go out, and I get burnt. These work, and are real storm proof matches!Get the fat UCO Waterproof Match Case with the striker outside to hold a box of 25 and extra striker.Or get the the long yellow or orange UST Waterproof Match case to hold 12 or so and an extra striker.Great for emergencies.

Super allumettes d'urgence
Je les trouve chères pour la quantité, mais corrects pour la qualité. S'allume bien et pendant 15 secondes. Anti-vent et résistant a l'eau.

Waterproof
They will burn, even after being doused in water. They self ignite once lit. Very useful in emergency situations.
