Edamame is a specialty soybean harvested as a green vegetable when the seeds are immature and have expanded to fill 80 to 90 percent of the pod width. Like field-dried soybeans, the seeds of Edamame varieties are rich in protein and highly nutritious. Worldwide, it had only been considered a minor crop or used as a cover-crop, but was quite popular in East Asia as a snack food. In recent years it has become very popular as a vegetable used in many recipes including soups, stir-fry's, casseroles and salads. As a snack, the pods are cooked in lightly salted boiling water and then only the beans are eaten by pushing them directly from the pods into your mouth. Seapoint Farms Edamame are sold in the pods, shelled beans or in a variety of veggie blends and dry roasted varieties. They are available in most Supermarkets, Club Stores and Natural Food stores nationwide..... Do you offer Vegan products? All of their products are Vegan; they use no animal products or bi-products of any kind. How long will the products last after I defrost or cook the Edamame package? Their products will last in the refrigerator for about two to three days after defrosting. They don't use preservatives so they need to be tightly wrapped after opening and kept refrigerated! Can their products be re-frozen? They suggest you pour out what you desire from the bag and may keep the remaining product in the freezer. Do I have to cook it or can it be eaten just defrosted right out of the package? All of their Edamame & Veggie Blend products are blanched when you purchase them, so there is no problem eating them as is; however, people have different taste preferences so you will need to experiment on how firm you enjoy your Edamame. In addition to their traditional blanched Edamame, they do offer a ready to eat variety that you can just defrost and ENJOY! Is soy a complete protein? Yes, soy protein is a complete protein because it contains all the essential amino acids that our bodies cannot produce. They have wheat and gluten allergies in the family, which of their products can I eat that contain no gluten? Adding a new gene(GMO) to a crop may give it a trait that is useful to growers and consumers, creating plants that are more resistant to insects and disease, that simplify weed control, or that produce fruits with longer shelf life.
