Tascam DR-60D MKII Recorder, Bundle w/BeachTek SC35 3.5mm Cable, and 16GB Card

I have been using this Tascam DR-60 Mk2 for a few months now and absolutely love it. It is one of the best recorders i have used in a very long time. I use it professionally on all my filming gigs. I have used it when shooting short films, corporate interviews, promos etc and wouldn't hesitate to use it anywhere. Although I love the unit I will say there are two draw back on it and if you know how to correct for them you will be completely happy. The first drawback that doesn't really phase me is that it does not have any internal microphone so the only way you can record sound with this is by directly connecting a microphone to it. That I knew ahead of time and it no biggie for me. The second issue that a lot of people complain about is that it eats batteries like crazy. I have to admit it is very power hungry. For example on a new set of alkaline batteries without phantom power being used you can record for about 2 hours. If you use the higher milliamp batteries from Eneloop your recording time will last a little longer. What I did to correct for the power usage is to run it with an external rechargeable power supply and with doing that I have used it for 14 hours straight on a shoot and didn't have any issues with it. I needed this product for ADR for a project I had worked on. It was a little confusing at first to use, but once I figured it out it was pretty user friendly.

I've used a bunch of recorders, this one gets the job done! I can record pretty much any audio from any device; XLR phantom mic, powered dslr mic, wireless mics, camera output, even a computer or audio "player" like a cell phone.TIP: This can be powered via USB so I use a 12,000+mAh external battery pack to power it all day! This thing will eat batteries so at least use AA eneloop rechargeables.I am very happy replacing a $3500 pro camera with a 4k DSLR and this audio recorder!This is one of the most versatile recorders I've used sub $1000!

This is the most perfect piece of recording equipment I have bought in my 10 + years as a filmmaker. People will watch anything if it sounds good. This took a lot of the guess work out of getting good sound and was the last piece of my movie making puzzle. I gave it 3 stars because u have to make sure u get the correct xlr cable. Do not just buy any cable. There is a particular cable that has to be compatible with this device. If u get the wrong cable you will know it, as it will get stuck inside and won't release. This is the correct cable to get for it. Wish I had known this. I like the recorder, it does a good job. If I had to do it over... I would have not have bought the bundle.

great little recorder! easy to use, love the form factor. it eats batteries but you can power it via usb from a battery bank or almost any device which is a huge benefit. highly recommended!
