TV Box S 3rd Gen - 4K UHD, Google TV, 32GB Memory, Dolby Vision & Atmos, WiFi 6, HDMI 2.1, Fast Streaming, Compact and Powerful

I bought the Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) as a workaround for ongoing media playback issues on a modern Samsung Smart TV. The TV panel itself is excellent, but its built-in software (DLNA/USB media handling in particular) proved unreliable and inconsistent. The Xiaomi box has been rock solid from day one. Setup took minutes. It outputs a clean 4K signal, handles 1080p content beautifully (the upscaling is noticeably better than the TV’s own processing), and plays everything I throw at it without drama. Local media playback via apps like VLC/Kodi works exactly as it should, and streaming apps are fast and responsive. What really stands out is consistency. No disappearing files, no random “content cannot be displayed” messages, no reboots or resets required. It just works. Bluetooth audio (headphones) is stable, picture quality is excellent, and the interface is far more polished and predictable than many TV operating systems. In practice, this has turned my TV into a dumb display — which is exactly how I want it. If you’re frustrated with flaky “smart” TV software, this is a simple, inexpensive fix that genuinely improves the experience. Highly recommended.

amazing device.. it's quick and better than most android tv boxes I have used in the past. definitely worth it. wish it had an Ethernet port tho.

Works great, has a wide support for applications. No noticible lag on video playback. Came with a HDMI Cable however it did come with a European plug instead of a British plug - not a massive deal, solved that with a £5 adapter. Other than that, great little streaming puck.

Edit - Having problems so dropped the score from **** to * - might have to be sent back after a couple of days. It keeps showing the USB stick but seeing the media and I have to take the usb stick out and plug it in again. Not good. With Kodi installed, this is a go-to choice for playing your media from USB stick. It took a little while to get it set up properly but with Kodi installed, this is a go-to choice for playing your media from USB stick on your TV via HDMI cable. If your USB stick is reformatted with exFAT then not only does it mark what video's you've watched but it also lets you delete media that you no longer need. Google TV is built on top of Android TV/Android with a customised UI and content-focused interface from Google but if you are like me, you'll probably be spending most of your time in the Kodi media player. I struggled a bit to get it set up the way I wanted it, despite a lifetime working in IT, but chatGPT's your friend here as she will answer all your questions while you are completing the setup. The remote control has a top quality feel to it, as good as a Roku remote. I'd give the Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen a rare (for me) five star review but there are no AAA batteries supplied (it needs two) and almost unbelievably, it needs a European travel adapter (EU → UK) to power from the mains so you may as well order one of those at the same time. Note that a European travel adapter (EU → UK) is slightly different from a shaver adapter.

Love the product. However. It should be bought with a 3 pin UK adapter as it comes with only an EU Plug.

When the box is powered on it seems to work fine. I was concerned about a 2 pin plug being supplied in the UK. But as I had a spare 2 pin adapter I used that. Now however when I try to power the box off it does not power down with the power button on the remote control. I have to use the voice command, but it powers itself back on. I have to physically unplug it every time. Why has this been sold in the UK without a standard 3 pin power adapter.

Highly recommended. Advice: turn on cec and hdmi link and anything else on hdmi settings on your tv. Make the HDMI input the automatically switched one so that when you turn the box on and off, the tv turns on and off with it. You can download APKs and install them using the "downloader" browser Only down side is that it's 2 pin, but a converter plug sorts that out for £1. So amazing. Revived my old TV

I’m really happy with the Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen. The 4K picture quality is sharp and vibrant, and apps load quickly with no lag. Setup was very simple, and the remote is straightforward and responsive. It handles Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and other apps smoothly, and the sound quality with Dolby support is a nice bonus. Overall, it’s a compact, reliable and affordable streaming box that works exactly as expected. Great value for the price!

This Google TV box is a excellent alternative to Chromecasts and fire stick devices. It's quick and operates smoothly.

Die Box hat eine gute Performance, alle zeitgemäß wichtigen Video und Audio Codecs und WideVine L1 an Bord. Mit ein bisschen adb Debloating bekommt man auch ohne root den ganzen werkseitig installierten Müll zumindest von der Oberfläche ausgeblendet. Gepatchte APKs lassen sich mit sideloading einwandfrei installieren. Werbung auf dem Homescreen sehe ich keine, habe allerdings auch PiHole als Werbefilter laufen. Die Box ist Dualboot fähig über USB, damit kann man auch alternative Betriebssysteme (Zb Kodi) betreiben, hab ich aber nicht ausprobiert. Für mich ist die Kiste zur Zeit das beste TV Streaming Gadget in diesem Preissegment, über chinesische Direktanbieter bekommt man die Box derzeit für 45€.

Heb altijd Xiaomi sticks gehad maar deze TV box van Xiaomi 3e generatie is geweldig! Alles loopt soepel, van Full HD tot 4K films. Ook alle streaming diensten draaien perfect op deze box! GOUDEN TIP : Koop een "USB Ethernet Adapter" Steek die in de USB poort van je Xiaomi TV Box en je box is verbonden met internet via een vaste ethernet kabel ! (Altijd beter als WiFi).
