Finally relief from a loud neighborhood and snoring BF!
My boyfriend and I recently moved to an apartment in the middle of a bar/night club district in Downtown Cleveland. It's very, very loud on the weekends, and surprisingly, some weekdays as well. I have now discovered that my boyfriend will sleep through practically anything and also is a chronic loud snorer. Having trouble adjusting from a quiet, dead end suburban street and a bed to myself to a bustling metropolitan area with obnoxious drunks yelling, motorcycles throttling, the occasional food truck running 30 feet below our window, and a boyfriend who sounds like he is revving up a chainsaw in his sleep, I decided that I needed to experiment with products that would help me fall asleep and stay asleep.Earplugs felt uncomfortable in my ears and didn't mask all the noise. A white noise app just made it sound like my boyfriend was snoring through the middle of a fake thunderstorm. A fan made the room too cold and wasn't loud enough anyway. Melatonin didn't phase me one bit. Benadryl gave me a groggy hangover the whole next day. ZzzQuil made me have nightmares - like, terrifying, wake up yelling and sweating nightmares. So I started researching different active ingredients in sleep aids and reading reviews on both Amazon and Reddit. This one was decently priced, contained ingredients different than what I had already tried, and was rated highly. It is the generic form of Unisom. The first few days using this, I indeed woke up a couple times in the middle of the night and felt groggy the next morning. I decided to split the pill in half and take a half dose about 1-2 hours before bedtime. It now works perfectly for me - by the time I'm headed to bed I can barely keep my eyes open and I'm only waking up once or twice and falling back asleep pretty easily. I used to wake up 5-6 times a night, sometimes up to every half hour, and have trouble falling back asleep. This supplement has made me sleep sounder and, in turn, I feel better overall during the day. I used to come home from work and take a nap at 5 PM because I was so tired, but now I feel awake, my skin has cleared up, it's easier to lose weight, and I don't feel as stressed out. It even knocked me out for half of an 11-hour drive to the Outer Banks, something I've never been able to sleep through before. The only downsides of this medication are that sometimes when I don't take it (traveling, a late night out, forgetfulness) I find it difficult to fall asleep, but I don't think it's bad/often enough that it's habit-forming. Another downside is that I do not know the long-term effects of taking an antihistamine sleeping pill.Everyone will react differently to different medications - if you're trying this one, perhaps start with half a dose and understand that you may feel groggy while your body gets "used to it". For reference - I am a 125 lb female, which is perhaps why the full dose was too strong for me.

Cheapest I can find
I have trouble falling to sleep and know it's likely anxiety but I don't have many major issues during the day. Rather than taking regular medication for anxiety I'd rather just take this so I can get some sleep (I know some studies are iffy on long term use but everything has some risk). At big box store it's like $5 for a 30 tablet bottle so for someone who knows they will use it this bottle is a great deal. Easy to break tabs in half as well if you prefer trying a smaller dose.FYI: Most sleep aids at big box stores active ingredient is diphenhydramine - which is Benadryl. You can get regular Benadryl for super cheap. THIS active ingredient is doxylamine which is more commonly found in Nyquil and is also recommended at certain dosages for morning sickness during pregnancy.

DO NOT TAKE 2 UNLESS TOLD BY A MEDICARE PROVIDER
I was taking these mostly once every 2 weeks or so and they work well I do have some daytime groggness but it disappears after 3hrs for others it works differently of other people's bodies...If I can recall I took 2 pills before and I was fine however I haven't used these for some time and I was on vacation I had trouble sleeping during my whole vacation and I decided to take 2 pills on the last night of my vacation....I take them lay down and as I'm waiting for them to work I stare at the window near my bed for 10 mins...rest my eyes for 2 minutes all of a sudden a family member is talking to me so I opened my eyes and it's morning...I do not recall any dreams toas I'm getting ready to leave I could barely keep my eyes open....even after getting up and walking around to wake me up but it doesn't go away...my family and I pack up and leave quickly...I felt very confused and it was hard to think...I have never felt this way before on this supplement and I felt worriedI was in the passenger's seat on a road trip and after 30 mins of my family member driving I kept struggling to keep my eyes open and still felt confused and scared no matter how much I shifted in my seat or what I did to keep me awake it wouldn't help at one point I did start to hallucinate a few things I was wearing glasses so I thought it was the reflections but I was in a carThis freaked me out even more so I decided to sleep in the car during the road trip I woke up 3x because of the car moving but went back to sleep when I woke up I was home I was still a bit groggy and confused but I felt a bit betterI help my family then eat a meal and after 3 minutes I was struggling to keep my eyes open once again so I go take a nap it was around noon when I fell asleep the last thing I remembered after eating was laying down on my bed I dont remember tucking myself in or changing my clothesI blink and a family member is worried because I've been asleep for a while when they tell me I'm still confused and I don't respond and they walk away...I don't remember falling back asleep but I close my eyes for a moment and open them and it's still noon I feel rested now so I checked my phone it was Saturday 12pm when I 1st fell asleep it's now Sunday 1pm I wasn't tired for the rest of the day but this really worried me...I really don't recommend taking 2 pills if you know how you react to one...these made me feel confused and groggy for a while like I was drugged or satdated please use with caution

work great, awesome for travel too
I started looking up sleep aids for a few super long flights to/from Asia. Nyquil knocks me out and this has the same active ingredient and gets good reviews. I always have trouble sleeping on planes, but these and an eye mask/pillow and I slept for a few hours on 3 different 8+ hour flights. It really made the restlessness of cramped planes more bearable. When I was done travelling, I tried these at home.... for the occasion when I was stressed out or knew I had a big day and wanted a good nights sleep. I take 1/2 a pill about an hour before and they work great. I do not do it every day....probably more like once or twice a month... I don't want to be depending on a pill to sleep, and I like the idea of taking this infrequently enough that it's out of my system and I'm not hooked on it. Great sleep aid, but like everything, it's great in moderation.
