Works great for targeting feral pigs up to 100 yards away in pitch-black night
This is an excellent low-cost solution for helping to eliminate pesky nocturnal-visiting feral pigs that dig up our land in rural Hawaii, this is a problem that I've been dealing with for decades. It was easily mounted on the Hawke 4-12X scope on my Ruger 10/22 rifle, I use it at 6X and that gives enough wide-angle view to find the target fast. The included illuminator is also very decent for up to 100 yards target distance, maybe more but that is as far as I can see on my land from my house before the forest blocks my view and their escape. I recently got a 250+ lb Boar at 75 yds with a single shot to the heart with a Federal Premium Match Gold Medal .22 LR bullet (not hollow point, very consistent round) in pitch-black night conditions. Works great in total darkness with included illuminator without scaring away pigs. I use mine from inside my house on a Bog Deathgrip tripod which I highly recommend for quick precise shots. You can focus the camera through the housing cut-out and between that and the diopter adjustment and parallax adjustment of my scope I can set it to one constant setting that works very well at keeping the target and crosshairs in focus well enough to shoot well out to 100 yds distance w/o changing any of those adjustments and without getting parallax error, for me that is perfect for saving time getting on target in my situation. The camera isn't super high resolution but it is good enough for medium to big pigs up to 100 yds away I'd say. These camera sighting solutions make it easy to sight-in quickly and they also eliminate parallax because the camera is always fixed relative to the crosshairs. I co-align a good scope-mounted laser to my crosshairs for a quick defensive targeting solution that doesn't require using this camera system or scope, a bright green laser for day or night usage works very well for targeting quickly at any range. Out in the field at night this system might not be optimal because the camera monitor screen will light up your head enough that it might alert targets closer than maybe 50 yds if they are cautious, but I like not having to hold the rifle scope up to my eye, it gives me better situational awareness to be able to see clearly all around as well as the target and it is much easier to hold the rifle in a lower position indefinitely, you can shoot from the hip or sling very effectively. This system is essentially flawless on a good .22 rifle out to 100 yds at night but I don't know how it works on larger caliber rifles or longer distances. It would probably work well for targeting at ranges beyond 100 yds but might require a better IR illuminator, like a Streamlight Super Tac IR flashlight or a Uniquefire UF1508 flashlight, but I'm not sure what distance is feasible with the limited camera resolution. I'm writing this review because after several years I'm back to get another one of these for another rifle (the first one still works fine) and I think people in my situation might be missing out on a great affordable system, so I gave some specific details that might help with your decision. Maybe these feral pigs are just a Texas and Hawaii problem but I think this system will help some folks a lot, like it did for me.

Good inexpensive entry level night vision, has a few pros & cons.
PRO: Easy to set up, Easy to use with existing scope, Works with mill-dot reticle & variable magnification, Can get more NV magnification for less money, Can take it off in minutes and have your normal rifle set up again, can be used in the daytime!, good resolution for the money.CON: Batteries don't come with it!, a little fiddly, doesn't fit on all scopes (be very aware of the size of the scope on the eyebox side to make sure it fits) , a little bit odd to aim wo/normal check weld, lights up your face at night (fixed with a big billed hat and some fabric hanging down) and you have to be extra careful to not knock the view screen...its kind of big. When coupled with a 5 watt UniqueFire T67 IR Hunting Flashlight this system can see out past 500 yards easy. Being elevated helps a lot though! It takes some time to get use to all the adjustments needed to get a clear picture in focus. That being said I don't think you can get any decent night vision for this entry level price even after you buy a better IR torch and the batteries. In the long run my son kept his and I returned mine in favor of a Sightmark Photon RT 4.5, it too has "issues" that doesn't make it perfect but I'm not sure if you can get that for less than $500 in any night vision set up.

Really nice setup - get your own batteries.
Really nice setup, but didn't come with batteries. I ordered some 6000 mAh batteries and a smart charger separately and received them yesterday. Charged the batteries and the camera and display worked perfectly. I like the day-night switch location on the camera and the display has good resolution and was bright. Everything works perfectly and I am very satisfied. The illuminator light that comes with this is 850 nm and reaches out far into the darkness with this camera, but the camera also does quite impressively in the dark without any infrared lighting. The illuminator does have a slight red glowing spot visible, when you look directly into the camera in the dark (NOT recommended) but I am told that few critters can see it. Because I want absolute stealth, I ordered and received some 940 nm illuminators and these show not a hint of visible light when looking directly into the beam (again: NOT recommended) in a pitch black room, but the camera picks it up fine in night vision mode. It's not as bright at 940 nm and the range is reduced but I could still easily see out to a decent range. I have not measured the max distance and your own range will vary with your particular 940 nm light, but I just wanted to report that the camera does see pretty well at 940 nm.

Great for the price
I put it on my ar 556 and it works great take a little adjustment once in a while but for the price its excellent the only 2 things I think it could improve is the ir light is a little sloppy loose when zoomed in and I wish they made a mount for the screen to go on the side of the gun instead because the screen being on top of my scope makes it a little hard to see the screen when the gun is up to my shoulder

Sees my 200 yard hog feeder sharp at 8 power dark night.
Mounted it up in 10 minutes, now it takes maybe 3 since I figured out how. I set it up on a 3-12 power 40 mm on an AR. Out of the box with their illuminstor it shows me 100 yard target, 200 yard hog feeder, and even my hog feeder at 300 yards on a dark night. I'd say as is it is coyote no problem out to 200, nice and sharp with my scope. I can turn the scope up to say 8 power at 200 yards and it's a good night vision image. Any higher it gets fuzzy. You definitely want to use a scope with the adjustable objective as that helps sharpen the image. You use the camera focus to get the cross hairs sharp. I can see racoons feeding on the corn at 200 feeder nice and sharp. I have a better night vision illuminstor I'll try next week to see what that gets me. All in all its far superior to a gen 2 with a really good illuminstor. I'd say well worth the money.
