Oregon 105670 Replacement Guide Bar and Chainsaw Chain Combo, 18-Inch, Fits Stihl, Grey

This is an excellent value and a product made by a company that makes well respected chainsaw accessories. The chain is very sharp (wear gloves) and the bar looks very good. Weight of this bar/chain is typical for these items. Oregon makes quality products so I believe this combo will be very durable. Be sure to lubricate the sprocket at the end of the bar for good service. I purchased this for my Stihl MS280 chainsaw which came with a 20 inch bar. My previous saw was a Stihl 028 that failed and the dealer offered me a deal on the 280. The 028 had an 18 inch bar and I ended up with two new spare chains. I wanted another bar for my saw because it can be handy to have if you get the one you're working with stuck in what you're cutting (remove the power head, put on another bar/chain and free the stuck one). Also, if you damage one bar/chain or run out of sharp chains, having another set lets you continue working. I've included a picture of the back of the chain package which lists the saws it is recommended for. Be sure to check your saw's gauge, pitch, and number of drive links to be sure the chain is the right one. Be sure the bar mount (end that attaches to the power head) is same as your current bar. Pay attention to the bar/chain gauge (width of the drive links that run in the bar's slot), if it's too big the chain will not fit into the bar and if too small the chain will 'wallow' in the bar's groove, damaging the bar/chain.

Great cutting chain and replacement bar.

I own some acreage, and I’m always finding myself needing an extra bar. The other day, when cutting a tree down, my bar got pinched, and I swapped this bar out for my old one. It worked flawlessly, and I had the tree taken down, and my other bar freed up in no time. It fit on my Stihl ms261 perfectly, as I believe these bars will fit on all Stihl saws. They are much less expensive than Stihl bars, and if you’re cutting a lot, this will save you a lot of money.

Saw is running great. Perfect replacement at a reasonable price.

I have two saws, and a yard with mature Oaks, which I love, but Mother Nature will and has taken a few down. You need to be prepared.

So last year i decided to replace my original bar which was six years old and cut countless cords to feed a hungry outdoor wood boiler. The Oregon website said the replacement was number 105706 bar and chain. But I did not care for it as the chain kept working lose and it didn't seem to be getting enough bar oil. So I put the old one back on intending to replace with a new sthil bar this year. But as usual its hard to buy any sthil products, thier website dident give a price and couldn't tell me if my local shop had any in stock. I guess i could have called but i figured it would be an hour on the phone explaining what I needed. So back to Amazon to buy. I noticed another reviewer stated he had an 8 sprocket farm boss of a similar year as mine and he wrote this one works. Which makes since because ive been using Oregon l74 chains on my original bar. Well, after much cutting this is indeed the correct bar and chain. Im not sure why the Oregon website says its a different one. Maby sthil had different variations of the farm boss or something. Or maybe it was user error on my part, lol. Ither way this one works perfectly and im glad i got a new bar finally!

cheapest around town and on line great bar and excellent chain it has held up longer than Stihl originals have cutting red oak.

Happy with the bar and chain, cuts well and fits my ms261 saw. This is the second one I’ve bought from Amazon. The first one lasted about six face cords of wood before getting noisy from chain wear in the channel. Lots of oil but not enough transfer to the channel.

Haven't had time to comment on durability, but so far looks like there will be no problem in that department. I'm very pleased with the purchase, and would buy it again if need be.
