Nice Product; Some things to understand.
We had an 8k U Midea for ~5 years. VERY quiet. Needed an external support and was complicated to seal the window. Very good unit, but decided to take advantage of the recall. We replaced the above with this newer 8K Midea model. After some experimenting we are using the "Eco" mode. There is some blather about Energy Star and this mode for A/C's but in this case the fan cycles on and off which seems to better keep the correct temperature and has significantly less noise.Amazon still seems to have the wrong minimum vertical dimension of a window. It is about 14".Pros: Does not need an external support.Cons: The lowest fan level is louder than the one on our previous one; not sure the design rationale. We will add both internal and external covers during colder periods because while the inside part is not open to the outside, there is an internal plastic duct that would lose heat. Not as quiet as the U model (which I expected, but very reasonable).14 July 2025 update: The panel indicator lights do not stay illuminated which complicates knowing what the current settings are. The power requirements for them to be left on (E Star rules?) would be minimal. We have procedures that seem to mostly work now, but think the company should reconsider this aspect.

Didn't work right out of the box.
The family & I were excited to get our brand new Midea 14000 BTU AC delivered by Amazon, during the heat wave we were having. It had all the features I was looking for in a window unit. The box was in good condition & the unit had no signs of any damage after being unboxed. We installed it in the living room window. It seemed strange to me after running for a while the air blowing out didn't seem cool. Then after a while an ELCO code popped up. There was obviously a manufacturers defect in the unit we received. Not wanting to wait because of the heat for another unit to be delivered, I went to a local retailer & bought an AC unit. Didn't have all the features I wanted, but it worked.

Powerful cooling, reasonable sound level (14000 BTU)
14000 BTU. Nice, cold air. Powerful air flow, felt it across the room on medium fan speed. Quieter than old-style ACs.It’s fairly quiet on the lowest fan speed - I’m noise sensitive. Although it’s quiet, I’ve had quieter inverter AC’s…but they didn’t cool anywhere as well as this Midea. On medium-to-high fan speeds, I do turn the tv volume up quite a bit. Thankfully, it’s a smooth, even, whooshing noise. All you hear is air — no rattling, rumbling, or whining. 👍Powerful cooling = It is BY FAR the best at cooling a room quickly (compared to off-brand inverter ACs I’ve had in the past).14000 BTU is rated to cool up to 700 sq ft. I found that to be accurate in real life. 👍Super pleased, since AC’s I’ve had in the past didn’t live up to their square footage claims. Midea does.It comes with 2 rolls of foam weatherstrip, which I appreciated. Personally, I like to buy extra foam in different sizes for an extra-perfect seal. I also bought some Plasticene modeling clay — it’s like play-doh — great for sealing hairline gaps around the side extender pieces. Like every AC, this unit needed it. You can mold it to any shape with your fingers to fill tiny gaps. Build quality seems great. Install was easy for 1 female. 2 people is better if you can.Installation = Lookup this YouTube video for a step by step: “The Fixer2 How to Install Midea Window Air Conditioner | Model MAW05R1WWT-T AC Real-Time Installation”10/10. Highly recommend.

A great smart window AC purchased as Amazon Resale
Why did you pick this product vs others?:We have another Midea Smart AC and love the app that gives us remote access to control the unit. It was discounted as an Amazon resale item in 'mint' condition. It arrived in an unopened box but as you will see in the pics the was some cosmetic damage but it appears to be working just fine.Ease of installation:Very easy to install but unit is very heavy, suggest having a second person to assist yFunctionality:This has Bluetooth capability and a Smart Home app allowing us to control remotely. Also allows us to set up a schedule to turn on or off.

Good option for the price
Nice AC unit and fairly easy to install. Not the most quiet, I can definitely hear it running in the background but about the same noise level as having a fan run on a high setting. It did take a little bit longer to "flash cool" our living room than expected - about 1hr to have the temp go from 85 to 75 but it works well for our purposes. My only complaint is that it seems like I was sent a used unit - or at least the panel in the front has definitely been used - there are dirt marks all over the plastic framing that I didn't notice until we had already installed it. Rest of the unit seems new though.

Really exceeded expectations
If you are on the fence about which air conditioner to buy, don't hesitate to get this one. After concerns about installation, it turned out that it was as easy as putting in any window unit AC. So a bit of a chore, but everything went together easily and quicker than I thought it would. It was pretty much plug and play- and it is quieter than any AC I have used before. Not silent, but close enough. It easily cooled my 350 sq. ft. coach house, which has a vaulted ceiling and is not always easy to cool down entirely. The box itself is sleek and smooth looking, and the filter is very accessible for ease of cleaning. I highly recommend this model.

Garbage
It worked great for about 3 weeks, but then the display went out. It still worked for a few more days, but it completely stopped cooling two weeks after the return window closed. Do yourself a favor and find a different option!

Took too long to get
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked this product because they are reliable and it’s a smart WiFi connected air conditioner. I also picked it because it indicated that it was in stock. But it took me a month to get it. Modes is a very reliable brand but buying it from this vendor was a problem because despite saying that they had them in stock it took too long to get it.
