Arrived broken - clever design - weight penalty for plastic / resin bottle cage
Was sent in a large envelope that didn't protect the bottle cage and it was snapped at the base when I opened it.Design is clever. It's a 2 piece design, a stationary mount, and the actual cage can be flipped to so the bottle can be right or left hand access. I have a carbon water bottle cage that is like a feather, grading on a curve against the carbon cage or other another 1 piece plastic / resin cage I have, this is heavy, still only a couple ounces but heavy for a plastic / resin cage.Amazon should know better by now than to ship such a relatively fragile item in an envelope where it can be easily broken.

Works great for small spaces
Works very nicely on two of our mountain bikes which have a very limited space to maneuver a water bottle in and out of a bottle cage. You still have to have a little space above the top of the water bottle but not much as the bottle can be pulled out at an angle. We have found that the cage works quite well with the Polar Water Bottles such as:https://www.amazon.com/Polar-Bottle-ZipStream-Breakaway-Insulated/dp/B01B5F7V1E/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1505539685&sr=8-6&keywords=polar+bottle

Best bottle cage I've ever used
I have a rather compact bike frame, so taller bottles won't fit or are difficult to access while riding. After putting these Zefal Side Mount cages on, I can grab the bottles with ease. Since they can be mounted for either right or left exit, I have set them both up for right hand access. Most of the other side mounts that I had interest in are one-piece units, so if you have two cages on your bike, one will be left handed and the other one right handed. They're quite light weight; plenty light enough for a non-racer such as myself. Of course, carbon side mount cages are lighter, but I find it somewhat amusing as other group riders have to look down at their cages to be able to figure out where their minuscule carbon cage is and I can just jab my bottles back with confidence. The crazy easy access means that I actually sip water more frequently (which is a good thing, if you're wondering). The height can be adjusted (with screws, not on-the-fly) which is more useful than I thought it would be. I started out with both cages at the lowest setting to accommodate taller bottles, but the side exit allowed me to put both to the highest setting and still be able to get 24oz bottles out with ease. The higher the cages are mounted, the less you have to bend over to reach your bottles. The only negative point I have noticed is when I ride with the cages empty. The plastic is quite flexible so that riding, especially on rough roads, caused the tips to rattle against each other. Not a big deal for me.My wife has not-so-subtly hinted that she wishes she had these cages on her bike, so here I am back on Amazon ordering two more.

Fine for a road bike or smooth riding, but not for a mountain biker.
I bought two of these for my mountain bike. I liked the fact that they are reversible and very lightweight. The problem is that they are two flexible and won't hold a water bottle securely over bumpy terrain. I've lost my water bottle a couple of times so now I look down to check on it after rough sections to see if I need to go back. I'm using 21oz CamelBak Podium insulated bottles as the larger/taller 25oz Podium bottles are too top heavy and fall out very easily.

Not Durable for MTB
Bought one of these, and took it to the bike shop to install on my new bike. Upon installation the bike mechanic broke the plastic where the screws hold the water bottle holder down. I assumed maybe he used too much torque, or was in a rush. I ordered a replacement through amazon (fantastic return system - thanks amazon) and when installing it myself I lightly torqued until it felt snug and then with one small 1/8 turn to lock it in I hear :crack!: broken in the same exact location as before!!I cant recommend this to anyone, sorry Zefal, this product has great features (mounting for left or right handed people) however the overall quality of plastic used is low. Going metal/old school from here on out. My $0.02.

Loses water bottles
I've lost 2 water bottles riding on the road with this cage. I ride a road bike, I don't jump curbs, I avoid potholes and rough roads where possible and it still happened, twice! You don't hear it when it falls either because either chain noise or traffic prevented me from hearing it. You're thirsty, you need a drink and you don't have one.

Great Bottle Holder
I bought a Thermos HS4080 24 oz. water bottle but the 3" diameter did not fit into my wire cage or any of the holders I tried at a bike shop. I decided to buy the Zefal side mount cage 170001 since one reviewer said his 24 oz. Polar bottle (also 3" diameter) fit well. I tried the Zefal for the first time today and it is fantastic. The Thermos did not move at all and is easy to put in and get out of the Zefal. The Thermos water bottle is tall and is heavy compared to a plastic bottle, but did not budge at all. The Zefal mount is slotted so the whole holder can be moved up or down for optimum location. My regular size bottle fits great also, but I doubt I'll ever carry that non-insulated one again. I'm a street rider so have no idea how it would fare on a mountain bike.

Decent product - noisy without bottle
I needed a water bottle holder and this one worked for my needs. I ride a Cannondale RZ 120 One, and the space between the top tube (that has a slight bend), the shock, and the down tube. Additionally my cabling for brakes and shifting run on the top of my downtube. Thankfully the cage sits on top of a bracket, and that bracket raised the cage up off the downtube and provides the spacing I needed for the cables. My only minor complaint is that the cage can be a bit noisy if there isn't a bottle in it. The 2 parts that are separated on the side are very close together, and bang together when no bottle is present. Overall, for the money, great product.

Highly recommend for the side opening alone
UPDATE: Originally I gave this 5 stars, but less than two months, the plastic cage, has given way to where the screws are, and its fallen off my bike. Original review below.Because the inside of my frame is getting crowded with pumps, locks and drinks bottle cages already; this was just what I needed. Instead of the traditional, “slide in from the top” bottle holder, this lets you pop your bottle in from the side (as well as the top should that be what you prefer or need). I’ve had this a month or so now, and cycled a variation of the coast to coast. I purchased a Zefel tool bottle (see other reviews of mine), for spare camera gear, and it was easy to clip in and out of the bottle cage.I’ve ridden on roads, bridleways, and off road with it, and it’s been very secure. Made of strong plastic, it’s light but hard wearing. Highly recommend.

SOLID!
this bottle cage is PERFECT for my enduro bike.side loading so it's easy in and out and doesn't interfere with my rear shock at all, holds my camelbak podium bottle in place through EVERYTHING! big drop and descents along with roots and rock garden. This bottle cage does it all and is so cheap I'm surprised. would buy over and over again.no need for big fancy brands, this thing is the dogs danglies!

they work perfectly with my Zefal metal bike bottles and can also be used for pretty much any kind of similar size bottle
On the plus side, they work perfectly with my Zefal metal bike bottles and can also be used for pretty much any kind of similar size bottle, such as beer bottles or cider bottles... On the downside, they are fiddly to fit because the bracket is in two parts which you may be able to see in the photographs. I would recommend longer bolts which should be available from your local bike shop or hardware store. This is because the bracket, being made of plastic, is bulkier than a skinny aluminium one. This has the advantage of not scratching metal bottles, however. My final remark is that they seem to produce an annoying rattling sound when not carrying a bottle and I am pretty sure I have checked to see if the bolts were tight. Perhaps carrying a bottle at all times, whether empty or full, would be the answer.

Doesn’t have base to hold bottle
Not greatly happy with this. Got it for my son but it doesn’t have a base to hold the bottle if you use a thin bottle. Slips right through. Suppose it’s for certain type of bottles.
