Derale 13870 Hyper-Cool Extreme Remote Mount Fluid Cooler,Black

Installed this on my 92 Jeep Cherokee Buggy. Don’t have the greatest pictures of the installation but it was super easy!! Used -6AN lines and fittings from summit to install! Keep my trans and a great temp for climbing them waterfalls! The fan is a puller so depending on your mounting location you may want to change it to a pusher. I had to on mine because it was blasting warm air at the back of my head, but it’s well worth it for the added security! It is pretty large. Make sure you have adequate room to mount it!

Wow! All of my transmission overheating problems have been solved with this device. I had it professionally installed under the rear passenger seat floorboard - outside. I have had overheating issues with my trans for years and this solved it! Worth it's weight in GOLD! Make sure you install a manual on/off switch. The thermostat does not come on soon enough for me. It is set to come on at 180 degrees. But by then, the trans temp is starting to run away on me. Put the manual switch in and turn it on when I know I am going to be doing a climb, and the temp gauge barely moves. I also have a heavy duty cooler on the grill as well, but it just wasn't enough. This works even if you are only doing 25mph up a steep grade.

To be frank with you, this fan expect ended my expectation. Including this fan, I have two dual 5 inches derale fan cooler, two 28btu B&M coolers, plus the ram cooler at the bottom of the ac coil and the cooler in the radiator. This cooler is the first pass after it exits the transmission then oil run to the other 6 coolers in my 1992 37 foot Winnebago rv. Relay Fan kicks in at 180 and turns off at 165. My temp in the pan runs between 130 and 160 at highway speed in 90 degree weather. I have a remanufactured 4l80e from the dealer and I want to make sure my transmission never sees 180 degrees in California and summer travel across the United States.

After installation my engine temperature lowered 20 deg.

Excellent cooler. I use my 4x4 in the dunes with a TH400 transmission and the temperature never goes over 160F.

I haven't used the cooler yet, still building the car, but it appears to be very well built. As it should be for the price. Mike

Derale makes some great products. This is the largest transmission cooler they make as far as I know. It works great. I have it on a temp switch so it comes on at certain temperature and am very happy with it.
