At least you get two of them
These are all metal and wood, no idea why some reviews were claiming plastic. Out of the box I had one almost worthless and one that didn’t work at all. Luckily the problem and fix was simple, take the screw out of the side and just shave a little more wood out of the taper. Why the factory couldn’t come up with a better simple jig for drilling out the main hole is mind blowing.None the less I would certainly buy this product again if needed. You get two of them for a lot less than others are selling just one for, and despite having to whittle out just a little more wood from the center they work just as well and do exactly the same thing as the expensive ones. Since it includes two you can do both shoes at the same time, rather than one shoe for 24 hours, then the other shoe 24 hours later while the first shoe is shrinking back to its original size.1) Order yourself a course piece of sandpaper with these.2) Take the screw out the side (don’t lose the nut).3) Sand out some of the bevel in the wood that the adjustment tip slides up on and a little more at the very tip for the tip of the shaft.4) They’ll work great unless you go insane with over tightening them on the first use.

Too small and poorly shaped
I wear a 10.5 us shoe, and I generally need to stretch the width a bit (I'm barely a wide, so 10.5 E tends to be hit or miss in dress shoes). Sizing on these is off, and the large men's is too small to stretch my 10.5 D US size shoes. Shape of the toe area doesn't extend all the way out to the toes and won't do anything for the toebox. The actually shaping thing is unvarnished wood, and the nubs you can insert are plastic. There are better alternatives on Amazon with better sizing, and more durable hardware if that also matters.

Great Stretchers for a low cost!
I was very happy with these! I had purchases real cowgirl boots so the leather was really tough and I couldn't slide my foot in them very easily. These boot stretchers fit well and were easy to insert, and easy to turn the handle to open up the stretchers. It said to leave them in for 24 hours but I ended up leaving mine in for 48 and when I took them out of my boots I could totally tell the difference they made!

Cheaply made
The pins that hold the universal joint together (the pivot point where the crank attaches to the wood part) keep coming out. I have put it back together three times and drove a piece of a nail in the pin to hold it in. Now, another piece of the joint has come apart; the rivet/pin came out! I have just cancelled the second pair that ordered.

Not as great as I thought they would be....
The first time I tried one of the boot stretchers, it worked great. When I tried to use the 2nd one on my other boot, it was very loose and wouldn't tighten easily by turning the handle. After a few attempts I finally got it to stretch the boot. The boots did feel better when I first put them on, but after a few hours they were tight again. I used the spray several times. The next time I tried to use them-- it was the same problem-- they don't work unless you keep messing with them! The hardware feels like it's loose. It's a great concept, but these aren't made very well in my opinion.

Broke after 1 use
I used these once and they broke. I had a heck of a time getting the wooden part out of my boot once the arm broke off. Very disappointed with this purchase.

Useless investment
They kinda let me down because they were described as multifunctional and multi-model for any kind of boot. They're not. They're good for width but not for length. And they don't work as good in flat boots. So maybe they will find their use if I buy narrow boots but only if they have heels, which I never buy because I have a discal hernia so... Useless investment.

Choose your boots carefully.
They seemed to be decent quality, although when I expanded it in my hiking boot, it started to pop the stitches at the toe. Maybe works better in cowboy type boots. Also, noted some sawdust within boot after removing (from screw?). Expands toe but not arch (in fairness, don’t think it was intended to). Overall, didn’t do what I wanted it to on the types of boots I use.
