Game of Thrones - Season 1-5 [DVD]

Wonderful tv series and a very nice, sleek slim case set for a great price. Lots of commentaries and other goodies, and booklets that recap each episode. I have read many complaints here about the other box set, but this slimcase one is excellent.BUT, and it's a big but: some fool or the other decided NOT to include subtltes for the Dothraki language scenes only. Which means you have no subtitles, or you have to use subtitles for the entire episode, which nobody with a decent command of English needs or wants.To make this worse, as I sadly have come to expect from US and UK box sets, the general subtitles are single line and in a horrendous font that makes them hard to read without quickly going cross-eyed. I am Dutch and hence very used to subtitles, since foreign media is always subtitled here (rather than dubbed). It's clear US and UK companies have no idea what good subtitles look like...Apart from the ridiculous lack of Dothraki-only substitles, this is an excellent box set with lots of extra goodies, and great value for money!

Still working my through these dvds, but enjoying it immensely so far. Great stories which interweave between the families. Lots of characters - I'm struggling to remember all their named. I expect once I've finished watching it all that when time permits I'll start again from the beginning to catch any of the finer points I've missed first time around. Might even consider reading the books, though this is generally a mistake when you've already seen someone else's interpretation of a story - not good to make comparisons!

Glad to see Amazon are now doing some kind of deal on buying up multiple seasons - hopefully they will start doing this for other shows too. Not amazingly well integrated into Amazon Video on Fire TV though - i.e. I just happened to see this separate "boxset" title / image whilst browsing rather than it being obvious if you were looking for Game of Thrones generally. It was also £45 when I bought which might have been a special discount, otherwise it looks like it is currently £90 which doesn't strike me as great value. Amazon Video pricing seems to randomly yo-yo about and bizarrely for a company that loves trying to recommend you things - never seems to tell me when special sales or discounts are on.

AMAZING - never seen GoT but had heard lots about it and wanted to get into it. We will definitely buy series 6 now. This was purchased in October 2016 and only in February 2017 did we realise when we got to the last disk of series 5 that we had a repeat of disk 3 (so instead of disk 4 we had two disk 3's)..... a call to Amazon and Vange sorted it so quickly and our new one arrived today..... that is superb service. The actual series itself is well worth investing the time in and the twists and turns of the families are great to see.

If you haven't watched this series yet, and you like fantasy, and especially if (like me) dragons fascinate you, then buy this (or the version with seasons 6 and 7) - you're in for a treat!This is a loooooong story, so long that I gave up on the books after reading about seven and no sign of any resolution. But, it is told so very well in this made-for-tv serial. Great casting (and its a huge cast), a wonderful range of locations, good acting and some serious special effects - the dragons are superb! - create something that grabs you and just won't let go.

Heard so much about Game of Thrones & been wanting this for quite a while. We don't have Sky so Hubby bought it for me for Christmas, also season 6. Only into season 3 & am definitely hooked.A lot of violence portrayed and nudity but I think within the storyline it is needed. It is set in violent times & as for the nudity, women were there to amuse & abuse, this is evident. It is a real treat when a strong women comes into her own.However I must say the special effects and make-up are absolutely amazing and make this a very big hit in my eyes.

Cant fault the actual series, wonderful to watch such magnificent show. However, DVDs I have received are virtually unwatchable. Series 1& 2 are ok for DVD copy from there on the copy quality is virtually worse than pirate copy you'd pick up at a dodgy saturday market. From series 3 onwards discs were noisy [is this a manufacturing error?] in all my players (in total we count 5 in our household, DVD and Blu-ray with upscale players) scenes where, it's dark lighting, there is smoke or fire appear to be 'blocky' then gradually goes downhill from there, poor focus discs sometimes wont even play with error message 'the disc is dirty' (yes I know I've seen violence and nudity before) I have 14 yr old Sony dvd player/recorder with hard disc that can record 8 hours on a single disc (lowest quality) which would guess is slightly better than the quality of the copy of these commercially sold 2.5 hours per disc. Once again the Game of Thrones series is fantastic, storyline, characters will be difficult to beat for many years to come ...... BUT quality of this transfer is awful. Given that is was Series 1-5 took us 10 months to watch (binge-watching forbidden) so now stuck with these without being able to return which I would normally do for any disc that doesnt come up to a watchable standard . I have a collection of more than 800 titles and this, apart from 2 I've had to return comes up as worst ever transfer. If you can find a different supplier of the discs please go for that , everyone intererested should see this , but not at this quality.

OMG we are hooked. we are late comers to Game of Thrones and didn't really think we would be able to catch up as soo many of them but my god I got this box set and there was no stopping us we were in there and LOVED IT....rather naughty (doesn't leave much to the imagination LOL) and lots of blood which I didn't really realise before but If you haven't yet watched Game of Thrones this is worth getting ... at least this way you can watch one after the other., just need to get season now...cant wait.
