Wonderful saw and plenty of power for my usage needs
First time using it, I was very impressed. The recent upgrades to this model was one reason why I went ahead and bought it. Upgrades include a seal on the oil cap to help prevent leakage, oil cap changes to help prevent dust, etc. from getting into the oil tank, smoother cut so improved battery life and a higher RPM than the previous model. The safety feature is a little harder to engage than I expected so don't be surprised about needing to push harder than you might think to put it into run mode if the safety is on (mine came with it engaged). Other than that, everything was as expected and it was up and running after plugging in a battery and adding oil. Be sure to not let it run out of oil and tighten the chain after using it awhile as new chains will loosen up a bit after some use. Saw is powerful and light weight. Adding that I've cut many 8" to 10" diameter pieces of wood off a black willow tree the last few days and it worked very well.

nice for small limb trimming
for what it's supposed to do - light trimming and small diameter limb cutting - this is a very nice saw. i haven't seen any oil-leaking; battery-life is ok considering trimming doesn't take THAT long to do. however, in no way should anyone expect to be using this type of saw for a lot of firewood cutting - no way it would do that. i got it for small-limb trimming and it does a great job at that. also got a very good deal on the price (140$) without battery.

lightweight and powerful electric saw
This review is for the DEWALT 20V MAX 12 in. Cordless Chainsaw, Bare Tool.I am overall pretty impressed with the saw. It easily cut 4" thick walnut logs/limbs and 8" diameter poplar. The saw seems well constructed and feels like a traditional saw except it is about 1/2 the weight of a 14" gas powered saw. Chain adjustment is similar to that on gas saws and the automatic chain oiler works in a similar way.The saw cuts slower than a gas powered saw as the chain spins much slower. Cutting the 8" poplar log took about 20-30 seconds where I'd estimate my gas powered Echo 14" saw would take 15-20 seconds. Cutting up the 4" walnut limbs into chunks was quick enough I really couldn't tell much of a difference between gas and electric. For all cuts I was using a 5AH standard Dewalt battery or a 6HA Waitley battery (Dewault compatible knock-off). After ~15 minutes of active cut time, I still had 3 bars of battery left. There were some reports of the older version of this saw leaking chain oil when it sat. After doing some test cuts, I left the saw on a paper towel and there was only 1 drop of oil which I think came from the chain. I had no further leaks after 48 hours of sitting.Overall, I'm pleased with the saw. My wife likes it because it doesn't require pull starting so she can pull it out and use it on downed limbs or trimming quickly. I also like the light weight which makes using it to trim limbs much less effort. I'm deducting a star purely because it is slower than a gas saw.

Great Girdling Saw
I’m currently battling a lot of invasive trees and this saw is perfect for that application. Being battery powered I can go around a tree in seconds and then shut it down. I think I used a 5AH battery for hours when I was using it like that. Love it!

Great tool.
It's light and powerful. I never had a chainsaw before so it was an interesting experience using it. I removed a couple of 10 inch diameter trees quickly with no problem at all. I know I was supposed to handle it with two hands only but it is so lightweight that I had no problem holding it with one hand to reach a branch that was off to the side. I would strongly urge everyone buying this (and any chain saw) to also purchase and use a face shield. I had two branches whip into my face during trimming the tree trunks while they were lying on the ground. The shield definitely saved my eyes. The oil leak that so many reviewers write about is negligible and easily handled by putting a disposable aluminum pan under it when storing it.

Handy saw for light trimming
A great trimming saw as it was designed to be used as. The only drawback I found was the chain speed was a bit slow and stalled quickly, but I realize it is by design to protect the saw and longer battery life.

Durable and reliable
Much better than a couple other cheap brands I had tried. Easy to use durable gets the job done!

Good for lite work, quiet and always ready.
It's a good small chainsaw for most homeowners. Handles the occasional limbs that fall down in a storm. Always ready if you're batteries are charged. Quiet, so you don't wake up the nebors at night or early morning. You don't have to pull start it or clean the carburetor after sitting a long time. It works good, battery cuts up a lot of limbs per a charge. I think I cut up 6, 4 inch limbs on one charge. Not bad at all. I bought the polesaw as well. Happy with my purchase. It's not as powerful as gas, but the benefits far out way gas for lite work.
