Just plug in and go...
I use Windows 10 pro and only had to plug this into my USB A port and it was instantly recognised, and ready to go. If space is an issue it is hardly bigger than the case of the Cd it is ripping. I haven't used it to burn discs, but I assume it will do that with no fuss too. Great value for money, and the shipping from Cal. U.S wasn't overly long.

External Optical drive
Great product have used to play and burn dvds on my laptop of holiday snaps a lot easier than carrying your laptop or thumb drive around, just drop into the dvd player and watch it on your tv

At last a DVD writer that works properly
I can't believe it's took me 4 attempts at buying an external DVD writer that works for all my needs. Here at last I've found one. Performs well, just plug it in & away you go. Very quiet, does all I need, CD, DVD-R, DVD+DL etc. Wish I'd found this sooner. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars as it only lasted 10 months before giving me any issues & 11 months before packing up completely, but still the best I've used so far.

Excellent for MacBook Air M1
I needed and external CD/DVD Read-Writer predominanltly for ripping DVDs and for me the must haves were (1) reputable main stream manufacturer (2) reasonable cost and (3) compact. The LG GP65NG60 fulfilled all of these requirements, and the "UGREEN USB C to Mini USB Cable High Speed USB 2.0 Type C to Mini USB 5 Pin Adapter 480Mbps Data Sync Charge Lead Compatible with Thunderbolt 3 MacBook " provided the elegant solution of direct interface between MAC and Drive. The MacBook Air M1 only has 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt interfaces, though I do have the Anker USB C PowerExpand 6-in-1 which gives me all the external interfaces I need, e.g. USB and USB-C and wired Ethernet. For DVD ripping and recoding to MP4, for putting on to an SD-card for projector playback, I went for the popular (and paid for) WinX DVD Ripper and WinX HD Video Converter. I also purchased the Windows versions for my Dell laptop.I've processed a number of DVDs now without any issues whatsoever. The ripper is fast, approx 15 mins for 4.7GB DVD rip using the recommended default MP4 profile, and the Video converter takes approx 20 seconds. Both packages I run using the apps "Use High Quality Engine".I'm extremely pleased with the LG drive, the gold option matches my Macbook quite well rather than the black option, and the WinX packages make life so uncomplicated.

2 years of use with zero problems, great product
Does everything it advertises with zero problems. I mostly just use it for watching DVDs on a laptop so haven't tried to burn any disks with it. It works great, it's slim and even though it's plastic it doesn't feel cheap or delicate - it's had some rough transit a couple of times in backpacks and it's held up no problem. Overall a great product, I paid £38 and purchased another one for a family member as a gift, theirs has worked just as well. Highly recommend

It does'nt work with either my Dell Laptop or Alienware PC with Windows 11. Rubbish instructions
This is supposed to be a "highly rated" player.Apparently, I cannot get a refund. This is allegedly a "Plug and Play" device. If it is? the unit must be defective as my Laptop already has a DVD reader within the hardware. that works perfectly! Plug in the LG, and insert the freebe "Cyberlink" promotion DVD which in itself is an advertising sham.In the combined instructions (Really?) and warrenty information in many languages, states and I quote "To install your product, please read the quick setup guide in the Tool DISC carefully and compeletely"I assume that was the Cyberlink DVD, which was ONLY disc within the new package.Disapointed with both Amazon and of course this product.Sugges t you purchase another brand and player.

Very Fragile
Bought this model to put my music collection on the Minimac. believing it would be better quality. It is very flimsy and the disc carrier part of the unit is almost non-existent a bare skeleton. It does do what it says but not worth the extra cost.
