Is this a stand alone game or do you need to have the original games as well?

This is a stand alone game - not an expansion.

Is this the "made in Germany" edition or the "made in China"? It usually says so on the bottom of the box.

Mine says 'Made in Ireland', ironic as it's the only part of Europe not covered by the game.

What colour are the additional trains?

It's been a while since I played this, but I seem to remember that the six player game is 3 teams of two people (so you only use three colours of trains). There are wooden racks to hold the cards in the team game and special rules in the manual.The plastic trains included in the set are 9 trains in each of the five colours from the original game (red, black, blue, yellow and green from memory).I hope that helps!

The product details say the rules are in German - is this right? Are any other components not in English?

Actually, all of the expansions are in about 6 languages, including English. The rules are multilingual, the map board is like the other versions with names that you can figure out (cities are not spelled out for English, but that is not a problem). The trip cards match the map. You use the train cards and trains from a core game (Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride Europe).Dave
