Outdoor Writing Paper!
Ever been out in the rain and needed to write something important down fast? Ever left an important note on your sweetheart's car windshield only to have the rain disintegrate it? Good news, because 'Rite in the Rain' makes a great waterproof paper that will not only shed water after you've written on it, but you can actually write on it while it is raining. You would think that the coating (whatever it is) would prevent you from writing on it at all. Not so! I've written on mine with regular and mechanical pencils, regular ball-point pens Paper Mate InkJoy 700 RT Retractable Medium White Body Ballpoint Pen, Assorted Color, 4 Pack (1781586) a Fischer space pen Fisher Space Pen, Non-Reflective Military Cap-O-Matic Space Pen, Matte Black (SM4B) and felt-tip pens. They all work great on this paper. This particular one is in tactical green, which makes no difference at all unless you want your pad to look tacti-cool. They also come in tan and yellow... Inside the front cover are conversion tables, map scales, and short rulers in inches and centimeters. This model is not spiral bound, but memo-style, so it opens like a book. The pages can still be torn out, though, if you have to leave a note somewhere. While I haven't had opportunity to give this the acid test in rain-drenched Southern California, I have written notes to my wife that I put under the tap and sure enough - the water just rolled right off. (The wife, meanwhile, was unimpressed. Meh) This pad is ideal to have for outdoor pursuits: Hiking, backpacking, birding, camping, traveling... you name it. For backpackers, in addition to making a great journal it also doubles as emergency tinder to start a fire because, after all, it doesn't stay wet. I carry one in my day bag, and also always have one with me when on a day hike or backpacking. Durable and built for adverse conditions, this notebook is surprisingly useful. Highly recommended!

Rite in the Rain Notepad
Bought several of these notepads to have ready during disaster relief deployments. I have the No.954 pads, which are approximately 3.5 x 5 inches and have 112 pages of lined (with light grid lined) paper. This is a very well made notepad and contains a ruler along the back cover and conversion tables (us to metric length) and map conversions tables on the inside cover. Small enough to fit into your shirt pocket, will not fall apart in wet conditions and will not bleed ink if you use a rite in the rain pen. Very well put together. You should have a few if you do ANY outdoor activity that needs note taking.

You won't regret it.
These are the best note books for anyone in the oil and gas industry. They are durable and will last after being exposed to a solid downpour of rain. Keep in mind that you should write with the recommended types of writing utensils. I learned the hard way with a gel pen, dont use them lol. Or highlighters. But overall the best form of pocket note book I have come across in my forever long career.

Really works
I've always been one to carry a notebook for quick notes and reminders. Since I have ADD, I can think of something one second, and if somebody even starts a small conversation with me, the idea is gone forever. I wanted a notebook that wouldn't just fall apart after some heavier use. This notebook is true to it's word. The ink won't smear even after running it under the bathroom sink. The back cover says that gel pens, most highlighters, fountain pens, water colors, and acrylic paint will not work. I recommend using a pencil for this since it will work wet or dry. I personally carry a CRKT tac pen and it uses fisher space pen refills. The space pen is by reputation a solid pen that works well on anything, but I don't want to try it wet since it says that the Rite in the Rain pens are the only pen that works wet or dry (I wonder how much of that is true and how much is just them trying to sell their own pens). Since these are a little on the expensive side for a little pocket notebook, I have decided to switch to Field Notes brand notebooks as they look better and are cheaper. But I will keep this in my hiking pack. If they were the same price, I would probably use these. One think I overlooked until I gave one of these as a gift to my father was the fact that the front cover reference page has two of the most common map scales on the edges, making it a neat navigation tool. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this product.

Great buy!
I ordered this notebook for use in land navigation practice after seeing it in one of Dirty Civilian's YouTube videos, and it seems to fit the bill pretty well. It has a non-metal binding so your compass is not thrown off by it, and the paper definitely seems durable and waterproof. The same YouTube video had a great tip to fold a page in the notebook to store and protect a small protractor, which works great with the MapTools pocket sized protractor.

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.
Perfect size, perfectly waterproof, perfect number pf pages (most have a depressingly small amount which makes keeping one journal for a while difficult) and even has extra material on the inside of both covers! I will definitely buy again, and I will try out the Rite in the Rain pens!

Nice quality of build. Unbeatable price from Amazon Prime. I did't try to write with water on the sheets thought.

Muy buena agenda de bolsillo resistente al agua. No le afecta el agua y no se borran las cosas que escribes al mojarse
