Worked like a charm to undo clutch fan
This Lisle clutch fan spanner is made in China with a rubber/plastic slip on grip that nearly slips off on its own, but this is a solid beast of a tool. Got my clutch threads to easily release along with the use of a 36mm flat open ended wrench. 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited wih 3.7l V6. You DO NOT put the pins into the two holes of the water pump pulley that are directly across (180 degrees). YOU DO put the spanner pins into two adjacent pulley holes toward the outside. This will also give it more leverage with the long 36mm flat wrench. Just slide it in a circle against the foward face of the black pump pulley until one hole has a pin in it then rock it left to right until the other pin in in an adjacent hole. Get your sturdy 36mm flat wrench over the clutch fan hex and turn the wrench left or counterclockwise. In three seconds of some pressure applied, the threads loosened. Spin the fan off WITH YOUR HAND beneath the blades at the bottom. That turkey is heavier than it seems if you never held one or replaced one before. ALWAYS lean the fan against a wall, object, box, etc so it REMAINS VERTICAL and NOT flat. That silicone viscous coupling fluid will slowly ooze out if the fan is horizontal for too many hours. Ok, but not ideal. Too much loss and the fan will stop engaging. A new OEM Mopar is 100's of dollars $$$. I always stored mine vertical as that is what I always saw growing up and they take up less space if not flat. Also never wanted to step on the blades if it was laying flat

Doesn’t fit 1996 Chevy 5.7 Vortec
Does not fit a 1996 Chevy 5.7 vortec. It is built well, very nice and heavy. If you find out what this actually fits and are planning on using a breaker bar with the handle, it is 1 1/2 inches wide and that’s not including the rubber cover at the end. So if you want to use a breaker bar, you’ll need something that will slip over it. It’s disappointing that the Amazon listing mentions this works for GM engines, it mentions it works for Vortec engines, and it mentions it works for 5.7 L engines however it does not work with the combination of all three for a 1996 Chevrolet suburban which is disappointing . I’m giving this listing five stars because it seems like it’s a really nice product, it just doesn’t work for my application. I’m attaching pictures of the width of a handle which might help someone. I’m not too worried about it not fitting because as a prime member, I was able to return it for a full refund.

High Quality, Perfect Fit!
I used this for a 2002 GMC Yukon and it fit perfectly to help remove the Fan during a Power Steering Pump replacement.

Absolutely necessary for Dodge/Ram fan removal...at least for the 4.7 V8
This tool worked great. Had fan off in a matter of 5-10 minutes after struggling without it for hours. Fan bolt was so tight that I had to wedge it against the A/C compressor and use all my strength on the bolt (and I'm a big strong guy!). It held up amazingly and made getting that fan off a breeze. Highly recommend this tool.

China made, not as described, does not fit all models in description
Not at all what is advertised in pictures or description. Lisle used to be known for good quality. I own several of there products but am thoroughly disappointed in this fan clutch tool. Poorly made in China, roughly cut chunk of steel, and no longer has a 3 pin set up on one side. I originally ordered this from Amazon as a used tool ( no packaging). But when it arrived I figured they must have sent me the wrong item. Did not contain a part # or even Lisle’s name on it. Sent the first one back and ordered a brand new one from a more expensive vendor to make sure I received a genuine USA made Lisle product only to be disappointed again.

Works for 5.3 vortec.
Can verify that it fits 5.3 Vortec/LS. Better quality than I expected too.

Does Not Work on 2003 GMC Envoy with I6 4.2L Engine
I purchased this to remove the fan clutch so that I could replace the water pump on a 2003 GMC Envoy with the I6 4.2L engine. The tool is very well made and appears to be of a good quality, but it does not seem to work very well on the Envoy's (not Chevrolet Trailblazer, but GMC Envoy!) engine due to the bolt heads on the water pump pulley being in the way. Even after removing the 4 bolts that secure the water pump pulley onto the water pump to make for more room, I still found it hard to maneuver the 2nd needed wrench to remove the fan clutch. I used a large crescent wrench and it was so large it just could not make enough contact on the nut of the fan clutch. Youtube has an excellent video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Hl2gaJHQY4) that shows a water pump replacement on a 2002-2009 Envoy and it displays the correct fan clutch wrench set to use at the 56 second mark of the video. I think the fan clutch tool set they were using is this one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004U21INM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am going to buy the aforementioned set and hope that is works better. I have had to purchase several specialized tools to maintain this vehicle (in this very case, approximately $75 worth) and in some situations, the price of the tools are more than the savings I get from completing my own repairs. More misery involves the vehicle breaking down on my wife at the most inopportune time when she is by herself (nights, weekends, out of town trips) which required either a tow or some roadside repair by me to limp it home. Due to this fact as well as bad engineering, design, and quality of parts (both original/factory installed and replacement), I will never again purchase a General Motors product. Once she is out of school and our finances are better, it will be immediately sold and replaced.

The tool does its job flawlessly. The pegs are very strong, the rubber handle is grippy, and the paint finish is thick and strong. If your changing a water pump on a gm pickup truck 1999 to new without electric fans, your going to need and want this tool!
