Mouth Guard for Grinding Teeth at Night

I purchased this to replace the mouth guard I got from my dentist. I've never liked that one because it's very uncomfortable to wear – the plastic is thick and rock hard so very annoying when in the mouth. So I bought this package to see if I could improve my situation.I'm SO GLAD I DID !First it's nice there are two of each size in the package. This means I will get at least two from this purchase. That's TWO guards for less than $15. The one from my dentist was over $700 !Secondly, the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. However, it seems like the printed sheet inside the box has a little more info than what's actually on the outside of the box. Both will work.For a tip, I'd say read the instructions several times and imagine the steps because the entire process only takes 45 seconds - about 15 seconds for putting in water and cooling, to 30 seconds to make the impression.The instructions say you can redo the impression if you want. I had to redo my first attempt because I had my lower jaw too far forward when I bit down. The second attempt went perfectly and it's so comfortable.I'm so happy I got this. Great buy. It came nicely packaged and with easy to follow instructions. It's very durable and will last a long time. I like that it came with two upper and lower guards. It's very effective in stopping the teeth grinding.

I really wanted this mouthguard to work because I need one while I'm waiting for my custom-made one to come from the dentist. I knew it wasn't going to be perfect but I was hopeful that it would mold to my mouth and not be bulky because so many of the reviews said. Now that I see how many of the reviews use the exact same phrases such as "it's not bulky at all!" And "it fits perfectly", seems kind of suspicious. I followed the instructions to a T and quickly realized that they reviews exaggerate quite a bit. This piece does not mold to your mouth in the way that you probably think. It's simply gets hot and with the heat allows it to mold an impression of your teeth but only on the inner part of the mouth guard. It doesn't actually mold the entire piece around your teeth. It's just when you put your teeth down into it it will be in a mold on the sides of the material. The rest will be the same it will continue to be the same bulky mouth guard. I used the smallest one and it was uncomfortable and bulky and kept wanting to lift up out of my mouth and triggering my gag reflex. I absolutely cannot believe that anyone would say these are not bulky at all because that is an extreme exaggeration. They are bulky and the material is quite thick. I tried to cut down some parts of it and that did nothing to help. If you don't mind having a bulky mouth guard in your mouth and don't have a gag reflex then go for it but if you want to be actually comfortable at night spend the money and get a custom one made at your dentist because the material will be super thin and fit perfectly around all of your teeth on all sides and it won't choke you at night. If it's something you're going to have to be wearing for a long period of time or years then it's worth the investment. I was going to wear this temporarily for a few weeks but I wasn't even able to wear it for one whole night.

I grind my teeth when stressed. Tax season stresses me. Got these to help prevent that. They were super easy to mold and comfortable enough to wear all night.

These are good for the right purpose. I am a hardcore grinder who can grind through them in a week. I use the hard plastic ones and still need new ones every 6-12 months. However, my husband is an occasional grinder. He only grinds a few nights a month, mostly when stressed. For those times, he can pop this in and he finds it keeps him from getting a grinding headache or jaw ache. Because he only uses a couple of times a month max, these last a long time for him. He brushes them with toothpaste and soaks them a few minutes in denture cleaner to keep germ free. This makes them a great value for the money. He finds them plenty comfortable. So, if you are an occasional grinder this may be perfect. If you are a hardcore grinder who needs a daily night guard this is not the correct product. You need a hard plastic ones that must be made for your teeth.

The instructions are very clear and easy to follow, read the instructions that come inside the package, they provide detailed steps to make your guard a good custom fit to how your teeth are positioned. You get a lot for your money with this one...
