you want your audience to see the logo, so it goes toward the neck. you'll like this strap. it gets more supple with use. very nice. rock on.

Q: What is the small leather string on the strap used for?

The small leather string is used when a guitar doesn't have a strap button. As far as I know, all Taylor guitars come standard with strap buttons installed from the factory. However, not all acoustics do. With such a guitar, you would use the leather string to tie the strap to the headstock above the nut under the strings.

Q: Is it 2.5 in throughout the whole strap or does it have a part that weaves through that's real skinny?

Probably 3/4th of the strap is 2.5 inches, then there is a skinnier piece which is adjustable , maybe 1 inch, that weaves through one end.

Q: Is it full suede as pictured?

Yes, it is full suede. It is a great strap and well worth the price.
