Not his finest work
First, let me say that I am a big fan of Stephen Hunter. I have read and still own all of his books. This was the last one that I read. It was more difficult to find than the others, but I was able to find a copy on Amazon and was excited to complete my reading of the entire set of works. My advice is for readers to skip this book. The plot was contrived. The characters were weak. Unfortunately, I can't find any redeeming qualities that would allow me to recommend it. That said, I would recommend any of his other books without reservation.

Early Stephen Hunter - he's gotten better with age.
Wanted to catch up on older Stephen Hunter books, and found this one listed. When I got the book and saw the picture on the front I was taken aback - Matt Dillon and Gene Hackman!Set in post Berlin Wall Germany, it makes more sense of you have some personal understanding of the deadly cat & mouse played by the US & Soviets after WWII. Kind of a US version of "The spy who came in from the cold" but not not quite as engrossing. Still, a good yarn. Hard to imagine it occuring today, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did not form the basis for the movie "Taken" which was a recent hit. If you're into literal fact-based stories, you're going to be disappointed. Relax and enjoy the yarn.

Nice Addition To Collection
I had been looking for this book to complete my collection by author Stephen Hunter. Was able to find a good used copy of it at Amazon. Product arrived as described within a timely manner. Was a great addition to the book collection and had more information in it than the movie. I would recommend this book if you follow the Bob Lee Swagger or Earl Swagger series.
