Just buy one.
A design with little change since... "forever". Simple construction that doesn't leave a lot to go wrong. I chose the Olive wood as I've not had that before and it looked lovely. Not disappointed as the rich depth of its tone and lovely grain feels silky smooth to the touch. The stainless steel is harder to get an edge than their carbon steels, but it's not that much more effort, it keeps the edge for longer and doesn't stain which I prefer. It came sharp, but a few passes on ceramic stones, without a need for stropping and it takes hair off the arm without feeling like anything more than a light feather. The N°06 is a small blade. But if you want a pocket carry with a larger blade, then the handle may be bulky. For me, this is a perfect slicer that doesn't make NKP jump back, when it's taken out of the pocket. Lovely value for money. Get the Opinel that you want as they're all good.

Great piece of kit.
Absolutely love this little knife, it’s sharp as a razor straight out of the box, I use a diamond sharpener on all my knives and it’s kept it’s edge with just an occasional top up, it’s brilliant to sharpen my sketching pencils and opens any parcel at the flick of a wrist, I also use it to cut my food. brilliant little tool. One thing I’m not quite sure about, and it hasn’t been a problem up to now, is the locking collar, don’t get me wrong, it works very well, holds the blade shut in your pocket and open when you’re using it. That’s the issue, UK knife law doesn’t allow locking knives, that said, there are many fold up knives with a release catch which to my mind could be classed as ‘locking’ sold every day so I’m hoping that if my knife ever comes to the attention of authority that they take a similar view, I’d hate to lose it, it’s become an essential part of my daily carry kit.

#6 smallest Opinel, small, sharp, so buy one !
It's an Opinel #6. Cheap to buy, small foldable knife, with a turn locking collar. Easy to sharpen carbon blade, beware, it is not rust proof, so unless you put a patina on it, you need to treat it with oil or similar, or it WILL rust. The blade is delicate and the tip + blade will break easily, if not treated with care. It is not a prying knife, like say a Mora would be. The #6 is a good, cheap knife, which I think is UK EDcarry legal. Cheap enough to lose and buy again. Other blade sizes are available, the #6 is the smallest in the Opinel range.

Nice but
Not as good as the old version and I I am concerned it comes into the Locking Knife category

Classic French No Nonsense Opinel
Opinel Locking Safety Stainless Blade - Olive, 7 cm Having researched old school folding knives very thoroughly I decided on an Opinel. I like it's utility, classic design and price point. The knife is great quality and the wooden handle (olive wood in this case) is beautiful. The knife sits very well in the hand and has a pleasingly ergonomic feel to it. It's light but not flimsy. The locking ring is very simple but also very effective. The blade is well shaped and came relatively sharp but I have read you should sharpen these to your desired sharpness straight from the factory. Very pleased with this Opinel and I hope it will be the first of many.

Beautiful simples pocket knife
Love the simplicity of the Opinel knives. This is a perfect pocket size with a beautiful olive wood handle and sharp as you can imagine. It disappears in your pocket carry. Great for cutting up fruit on the go or as a general use knife.
