Q: Will the matches still work if the striker pad gets wet?

No, but they come with four or five extra strikers. I've never tried to wet a striker and then let it dry out to see if it works again.

Q: Does it expire? How long is the shelf life before it doesn't spark up?

If the strike pad is inside the container and the container remains sealed, the Match Kit will continue to function well into the next couple of decades. I have had several similar purchased in the 80's that are still like new.

Q: are these matches strike anywear matches?

There are no "stormproof" strike-anywhere matches available. However, UCO makes excellent regular strike anywhere matches. With a quick dip in turpentine, nail polish or wax, you can make excellent water-resistant strike-anywhere matches.I also like to include some of the coated strike-anywhere matches with my stromproof matches. This way, should all my strikes become wet, you can use a strike anywhere match to light up a stromproof match!And btw, if you can swing the price, ($28, very reasonable, when you see the quality,) check out K&M matchcases. They're waterproof to 2,000psi, easily open with cold, stiff or injured hands, and have a very high quality button compass installed. I'm tight with a buck, but the K&M's quality is unbelievably high.

I just measured the container it is 2 7/8" long so i would say 2 3/4" is the longest length of match you could fit in this container. Hope that helps.
