This is supposed to be a sequel to Fingerprints of ...
This is supposed to be a sequel to Fingerprints of the Gods , however it takes the ideas first proposed in Fingerprints, and updates them in light of another twenty years of research. You don't have to have read Fingerprints of the Gods first in order to understand the Magicians, nor Graham Hancocks other books such as Supernatural or Underworld as he covers enough so that new readers are familiar and old readers have a quick catch up.

Another great and insightful read about our likely forgotten past
Another wonderful book by Graham Hancock, whose works I've been reading for 20 years. Once again, the author exposes extraordinary evidence that our species will have had in the past an extraordinary level of civilisational and technological advancement that has, since, been forgotten, probably because of a major natural catastrophe that will have occurred around 12,500 years ago. However, this memory will have been preserved in many religious and mythological traditions. After having written about the Pyramids of Egypt, the structures in Central and South America and many more such ancient artificial edifices found pretty much all over the world, this time, the author focuses mainly on the fairly recently discovered complex of Gobekli Tepe, in Turkey.

An amazing read with facts and ideas that will change your view on ancient history, higly recommended!
A fantastic book. This book is the follow-up to Fingerprints of the gods by the same author. I have followed this author for years now and I can say that he is a great speaker and writer. His ideas and the evidence he has gathered over the last 20+ years is amazing. I firmly believe that there was a very advance pre flood civilization that left us with amazing megalithic sites around the world and more importantly left ancient knowledge to the builders of some of the most amazing megalithic sites, pyramid sites around the world. Plato described an account from someone before his time who witnessed the legendary city of ATLANTIS, THIS BOOK HELPS TOP PROVE THAT THIS IS NOT A MYTH THAT HAS SPANNED THE AGES TILL NOW BUT POSSIBLY A REAL PLACE. (sorry for the caps). The book starts of with Gobleki Tepi which is re-writing history as it pre-dates the Mesopotamians by at least 6000 years.I could go on and on, lol, but I recommend you read this book.

Buy it - your world view will change
Wow, I'm very open minded whether its history or current events I look at the evidence not the reports. I'm only a little into this book but it's astounding - I've little interest in geology, history, archaeology, astronomy but they all play a part in this book. And the 'coincidences' give credence that we either a)do not know our history b)it is being hidden from us - personally I think a mix of both. Some have said this book is hard reading, its not - its written in the form of a diary, he basically writes what he did, who he met etc - the perfect method of presenting what was said or seen - no place for supposition.

Interesting, Fascinating, Scary
As always Mr Hancock writes a compelling case for his theories. I try to remain open-minded but as he is such an excellent author it is very difficult. As always, there are numerous references which allows for further investigation and reading. Fascinating to read and a little scary, let's hope the catastrophic possibilities do not actually come to fruition! My only criticism is the continual reference to his previous books, I found it very off putting and frankly a little annoying. Apart from this another brilliant book by Mr Hancock.

A great follow up to 'Fingerprints of the Gods'
A great follow up to 'Fingerprints of the Gods'. Hancock develops his hypothesis further. The sequel does however lack some of the gripping narrative that made the earlier work such a pleasure to read. The flow here is a little more disjointed and lacks some of the impact that 'Fingerprints' has. Hancock's development of his hypothesis is obvious to the reader from early on, yet the work seems to delay explicitly stating it as if to provide a final revelation -- an effort in which the work fails. Regardless, the scholarly work of Hancock is fantastic.

Challenging the dead hand of the entrenched archeological status quo
I applaud Graham Hancock’s work, as he systematically layes down facts that fly in the face of the deeply entrenched and stubbornly adhered to ‘status quo’ of established archaeological thought.Brilliantly written and researched Magicians of the Gods, puts forward a very compelling case for the existence in remote antiquity of a highly advanced antediluvian civilisation. A civilisation that left behind tantalising evidence of its existence and a message for us - their descendants .I would recommend this book to anyone and especially to those who prefer to think outside the box.

I'm 3/4 of the way through and my interest hasn't ...
I'm 3/4 of the way through and my interest hasn't waned. Though the prose can be laborious at times (a lot to take in, not a criticism of style or ability), staying with it rewards the reader with a theory that is well researched and potentially devastating to the pompous attitude of mainstream archeology. The book refers to research from many eminent scientists, geologists and archeologists with peer reviewed articles. Is his theory right? I refer you back to the evidence of water erosion on the Sphynx (Fingerprints of the Gods)that is ignored by the mainstream because it does not fit with the established view. Or perhaps the alignment of numerous structures to constellations that cannot be explained. Also in conclusion, Troy was referred to by archeologists and historians as a Greek fable and the ruins have been found. Draw your own conclusions.
