Unrivaled Glass Cleaner
By far the best glass cleaner I have ever used. Super versatile but it is a beast with glass and stainless steel. Will make them look better than brand new and leaves zero residue. Best off one tub of the stuff lasts a long time as you only need about 2 tablespoons to make a gallon of liquid cleaner. Can't go wrong with this one!

powdered miracle
I use this at home; a little goes a long way. I last ordered in 2014, it's now the end of 2025, and I am now needing to resupply. It takes care of what the other detergents just won't. stains in the cream Le Creuset disappear. The buildup in the coffee cup from the office that the dishwasher won't touch wipes away with a swipe of a finger after soaking. It is my go-to for the hard tasks.

Great for cleaning extremely greasy stuff. Warning: phosphates!
I use this for cleaning extremely greasy things like hood filters, and greasy surfaces in the kitchen. It's extremely effective for cutting through the the goop that accumulates on the mesh in the filter. I just pre rinse the filter (with cold water to keep the grease from clogging the pipes), then I partly fill the sink, and finally I pour in a teaspoon of this stuff (pretty strong). After a bit of mixing, I start scrubbing, and I'm usually done in less than a minute! For surface cleaning, I mix up a bit of this stuff in a sprayer bottle and spray the surface I want to clean. Then I scrub/wipe it off with a paper towel (so I can dispose of it and keep it out of the sewer). NOTE THAT THIS IS A PHOSPHATE DETERGENT! You probably shouldn't use it for daily dishwashing, since phosphates are really bad for the environment - they cause nasty algae blooms and other eutrophication problems! If you don't want this stuff banned for home use, don't use tons of it. Also: if you live in areas where water treatment is marginal or with high levels of phosphates in groundwater probably think about using this stuff carefully! Update, a few years later: it turns out there are a few other specific uses that Alconox is excellent for. Cleaning chemical labware (which I need occasionally, testing my garden soils), and cleaning my CPAP/APAP machine. It turns out I have sleep apnea, which is quite a surprise for someone my age, but I'm benefitting quite a bit from CPAP therapy. These machines need to be cleaned frequently, and I can't afford leftover dirt, suds, or any kind of residue. I also can't use anything harsh, like bleach, and don't want to use any solvents like ammonia. Alconox was made for this. And it's perfect. I need very little of it - I'm still using the same bottle that I bought like 5 years ago now - and it means way less scrubbing and rinsing.

The world's best cleanser
I first learned about Alconox working in biochemistry labs. Glassware has to be clean - if not, your experiment is contaminated - and one of the first things I had to learn was how to hold up glass to the light and see whether or not the Alconox had removed every last trace of oil, grease, biofilm, all the contaminants. Clean glass has a particular sparkle and once you've seen it you can always recognize it. The enviro-Nazis, meanwhile, decided that phosphates are so terrible for the environment that - while corporations are still permitted to discharge them by the megaton - my scant use of a few ounces of them per month in my dish detergent would be forbidden. Well, I can't stand hypocrisy and I can't abide being regulated for an ounce while the polluters get by with a ton. So I bought Alconox and use a teaspoon to supplement my phosphate-free dish detergent; my dishes have never looked cleaner. You can also use Alconox to clean nearly anything by hand. Though it's bleach-free, it's the only thing for cleaning our white porcelain kitchen sink - it won't damage the surface, just get it white again. And for our Riedel wine glasses (along with a Riedel drying microfiber) - there is nothing even close; Alconox is sovereign. I imagine eventually they'll outlaw it entirely. Stock up while you can!

A fine detergent for environmental work.
I was first introduced to this product while doing MIS (Multi Increment Sampling) on soils. This basically involves making a bunch of holes with an augur to a particular depth, then collecting samples from the bottom of each hole. This in and of itself isn't anything too weird, but the kicker is that you've got to VERY thoroughly clean your equipment between groups to prevent cross contamination. Now, many of the things you might use to clean the tools could actually influence the lab results. So somebody broke out this stuff. It's pretty amazing to watch. Even at a very low dilution level, it cuts through soil with little effort. We're talking pretty much mud. Some of it was really thick and caked on there. After you scraped off or brushed off the large chunks, you could spray this on and most of the rest of the dirt would literally slide off the metal tools. Even after it looked clean to the eye, you could spray more and watch as the tendrils of filth snaked their way down into the catchment below. Afterward, the tools shined in a way that you often attribute to brand new tools. I purchased this to use for cleaning other things, but it's worked fantastic so far. Leaves no residue when rinsed with water, safe for metals.

Piercer approved
Have used this for years as a piercer. It works well and you don’t need much. I just wish it came with a scooper to measure how much you are using. Overall great product, great clean, and great value.
