So much fun!!!!
My Granddaughters had so much fun making these that we ordered them in pink. They are so cute when finished.

Lots of spare ink cartridges and tons of glitter choices
I was not there for the assembly project, my husband did it with the kids. There was apparently PLENTY of glitter. Kids (age 5 and 8) were able to mostly do this on their own, and took about 10-15 minutes. There was a little plastic bag with some of the smaller pieces, including 3 tiny little plastic bits (seen on the card in the photo) that I wasn't sure what they were for but would be easy to lose. I think these might be to re-cover the tip of the ink pen, but doesn't seem necessary.

Fun for all ages!!!!!
Me and my work teammates made pens from several of these sets and had the best time!!!They give you a base to put the pen in while you work, a funnel to help you pour glitter into your pen, then 10 different ink colors to choose from, and exactly enough stoppers, pen bases, pen caps to keep the ink covered, and cute little monster toppers to make 3 pens.If you're doing this with children I would use the base but since there was only 1 in the set and 3 pens, only one person can use it at a time, so we skipped that part. I learned from other reviews not to put water in first so if you start by adding glitter then you can lay your pen down horizontally when you are ready to reach for another glitter color or do something else and the glitter won't come spilling out bc it's at the bottom of the pen's barrel. The only downside to this method is that it was hard to know how much glitter to put in because we didn't know how it would look once we added the water. All of our pens came out so great and perfect to our personalities.Just edited review to add a picture!

Fun Kit, Awful Instructional Error
As a pen collector, I actually got these to do myself, drawn to novelty of adding pens of my own design to my little collection. I'm not opposed to the odd, quirky little monster characters included as pen toppers, and I think that kids might find homework more fun using these. I've been enjoying them myself! On the downside, I am glad that I got this set for me, and not for a child. The instructions were an absolute mess. The steps are printed out of order, so if you aren't particularly scrupulous, you're likely to end up starting on step 3, which then makes it difficult to go backwards- and because of what these steps are, you'll never notice, you know? Step one is adding glitter, while step 3 is adding water. If you do the water first, the glitter will stick to the wetness outside and all along the pen and the funnel and won't make it inside. To be honest, it's not a very easy process even done the right way because static makes the glitter and sequins stick too, but at least SOME of it makes it in that way. There are also 3 pens included, but the glitter isn't resealable. So the pens not only have to be made all at once, but each STEP has to be carried out at once for all 3! Because you know, if you go through the process of making one pen and then start back at step one- you still have a wet funnel. And lastly, in case the fact that the project involves glitter wasn't warning enough, I will warn you to expect glitter to be absolutely everywhere!

a great present
I got this for my son, who is 7, and he loved making the pens. It was an enjoyable project for us to do together, and he had fun customizing each to match colors. The colors and little monsters are pretty cute, and there are extra ink inserts if they run out. I think this would make a good birthday party gift, and would appeal to a wide range - younger kids with some help from their parents, and even teens if they like crafts. The pens end up being a bit thick and heavy, but I think the item is more about the experience of making it than having the perfect writing tool. I plan to get more for gifts.

This 'Create Your Kids Fashionable DIY Pens' are a fun and useful project.
This 'Create Your Kids Fashionable DIY Pens' are a fun and useful project. It’s a very busy craft with lots of small pieces and the glitter is very fine. Although it’s rated for 6+, this is definitely an adult supervised event. The instructions are a little wonky, so best to point out to the kids that the instructions start on the back page. The results are great.

fun craft to do with kids
This was a really fun craft to do with the kids. Best part is each kid got a pen they created out of the deal. Pens work great.
