Subcold Trek 40L Car Fridge

We’ve used this twice now for mini wild camper-van breaks (no electric hook up) in our Mazda Bongo. Each time running on 12v power through our Swarey 500wh power station. Most recent trip was for two nights - three days and this little fridge freezer worked flawlessly keeping stable temp of 5°c.Build quality looks great and it feels like a solid unit well thought out in design. The control panel is simple to use and I like that it has a lock feature so nothing is accidentally pressed. It stores nicely and has decent space inside for 3 day trip. The most impressive thing for me was the power efficiency with just under half the power bank capacity remaining on day three (in the morning). Testing at home this unit with 240v power lead and had no issues getting down to -18°c, the unit seems to retain temps well in normal use. The lid design is really good with the clever lid latch design (opens either way). I reached out to Subcold to enquire about specs and they answered very quickly each time. Overall I can thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for a portable efficient fridge freezer for camping trips or day trips.

Ordered my SUBCOOL 20 Ltr fridge early one afternoon and it arrived the very next day. Excillent!When it arrived I looked it over pluged it into the mains.It humm's at first until it reaches the required temperature then goes totally silent.It turns itself on/off perodically as required to maintain temperature.The fridge is very wall insolated and will remain cool for some time when the lid is properly closed.It feels nicely made of robust materials with no sharp or roughh edges anywhere to snag your clothes or scratch your skin.Obviously it has been designed with being carried around and on the moved in mind.The side handles make it easy to carry.The lid open's on both sides or can be removed altogether giving easy access to the inside storage space.The overall look and design colour combination is really nice.Digital controls are clear very simple to operate and read.Bottle opener on the side is a very nice little touch.I decided to go with this one!I didn't want to go silly cheap as I wanted a product I can rely on that would last and do a good job.I think this is probably a little more expensive than I anticipated to have to pay for such an item, but in the end I am very happy with my purchase and feel confident in the choise I have made.This one is perfect for me and I would definitely recomend this product!

Excellent fridge and reasonably quiet. Slightly confusing how to adjust the temperatures. Can definitely reach freezer temperature levels, used in France during the hot summer, out in the sun at 38c + kept my beer and wine nicely cool.

0 stars really. Nothing but trouble. Avoid. Much better out there. (Search AAOBOSI Car Fridge 30L).This was delivered with internal damage and SubCold are not interested as soon as a replacement item is required. Pump over pressure warnings, caused issues with car brake lights when plugged into 12v socket in boot. Car was new in January 2024 and dealer has warned it is melting the wiring.

So after converting my van the only thing I was missing was a fridge, this unit is perfect. The power consumption is low enough for my battery and it's quick at getting down to the desired temp and maintaining that temp for a long period of time. Keeps my food and drink at the perfect temp and its a great size and price!.

Bought the 50 litre,has plenty of room inside hooked it up to the mains and the temperatures came down very quickly, very quiet, seems quite sturdy and the extendable handle and wheels make it very mobile, good price for the size.

Perfect for the car.I've got a couple of these now, the 50l which is too big to go in to a large saloon car, but brilliant for camping. I now have the 20l which is perfect for the car.I really like the way the lid can hinge from either side (no adjustment necessary).Being able to set the temperature means I can have nice use cold drinks etc.

This product sort of works but not as advertised. It does not get down to -22C but -19C. I have attached pictures of the device temperature reading and a freezer temp gauge I placed in the box. I set the device to -18C and it only got to -15C.As it is important I know the actual temp products are being stored at, I will always need a second device as I cannot trust the Trek20 to tell me the correct value.It works at home and in the car but the other problem is it is not fast. The above temps took around 10 hours to achieve. OK if you can plan ahead but certainly not close to fast.The lid design is good and seems to seal well and it does maintain a temperature once it finally gets there.It should be noted, I was very disappointed with their Customer Services (given advice for the wrong product and got told that -18C is different for different devices) and will never be buying from them again and recommend no one else does
