This unit is a replacement for an old one (same model) where the wiring quit. I took the old one apart and reused a little pull bar that was used for a brush and my belt, stuck it on the top with a special black tape and all works. Electrician tape slipped off due to the heat. I use the press to keep my pants pressed. It does a great job.

The Brits have a knack for great contributions for gentleman needs and this is just another example. As a professional it is important for me to look well groomed and this press solves the "hanger crease" dilemma while also allowing me to save from constantly running to the dry cleaners. Used to see this all over the big island on the other side of the pond and loved them. Amazon had a good deal running and I managed to scoop this one up at a decent price. They have a good track record for "being built like things used to be.." and is not a quick disposable appliance. It has a great solid construction; albeit the legs are made of a cheaper plastic. The major parts that count (the heating fold, etc.) are all of good solid construction and quality. Debated between this model and one of the more elaborate - but at the end of the day I didn't really need the additional clocks, timers and bells - just needed it to do its job.I Use it daily, I just lay my pants in while taking my shower and they are crisp, warm and have a nice crease when I am ready to get dressed. Which it does perfectly. Assembly is quite simple and I will likely mount this to the wall when I get some free time. Use is simple and as you become more familiar with the way it operates you can use it for some "off label" pressing; I like to have ironed pillow cases and this fits the bill perfectly. Runs for about a half hour, although you can snag the item out a little earlier if you are in a rush. For anyone who wears wool, satin or other fine fabric slacks/suits each day this a must have item for keeping your pants neatly pressed. Heck, I use it for my jeans and casual attire just because I like the warmth and clean look it offers. Electric rates are through the roof in my area (a suburb outside NYC) and it has not created any spikes in my monthly bill and with the savings for cleaners in the end I think it is a good investment. If you research out the brands, Corby is the best choice and Amazon offers some decent sales on these items from time to time. It arrived well packaged and was a bit of a nuisance to get out of the box, but they did a nice job in protection of the finish. It is a bit heavy because the construction is solid. As always, Amazon got it to my door in lightening speed. All in all, a great purchase and another salute to the Brits for a great innovation.

It just arrived today. I have pressed my first pair of trousers. The press works great. Be diligent and read the product description. A trousers press is not meant to be used as an iron on your trousers as they are removed from the washer or dryer.

I received a slightly dented 4400 in Black Ash instead of this 3300. Box clearly says exactly that on the outside. Order picker was high, but I will consider this an upgrade, I suppose. This is a replacement for a 10-year-old 7700 model, whose nylon heating pad surface got wavy/wrinkly, causing pants to come out that way, too. That is not a user-replaceable part (although available from Corby’s web site for £13), so time for a whole new Corby. 10 years is a good run!

Before I bought this pants press, I read a lot of reviews. These machines aren't magic. You have to put the pants in straight. You have to make sure you keep them smooth when you close the door. You have to push a button. Since this was a purchase to replace a press we sold with a house, I went for similar features. This is neither the least nor most expensive but does exactly what my husband and I need it to do in about half an hour, roughly how long it takes to shower and get dressed to go again. If we put our pants in correctly, the result is better and cheaper than a trip to the cleaners or wrestling with an ironing board, both being likely to make the fabric shiny. These presses have never made our pants shiny. This won't replace professional starch and iron for the khakis but it does extend the wear. Ours is wall mounted and we have stowed the feet and coat rack. Our first one lasted several years for us and is probably still operable for the new owner. We won't leave this one next move.
