The text really focuses on what statistics are able to do and focuses heavily on their proper use. Every concept is explained via an example. The text reads as if you are getting a personal lesson in statistics from the author. Really a great read, and an even better reread. I read every chapter twice. Ideas crystallized much better on the second (or third) reading, and THAT is when I realized how good the text really is. Cheers! I hope you enjoy. Review: The best introductory book I've read for Stats. - The Statistical Analysis of Experimental Data reads better than the full-fledged textbooks at my school for sure. While this book does not stop at the end of every chapter and scare you with half a million problems, Mandel always derives the formulas he uses. I value that in a technical book--especially when it comes to mathematics. Not enough people know the precise workings of the statistical tools they're using and this book tries to prevent that. His style of presenting the content does not settle for minimal understanding and demands that you take some time to appreciate the process of doing statistics.

There are some statistical gems in this book, and a refreshing look at a more manual manipulation of data from an earlier age.

Great book for statistical analysis
A good text for statistical analysis. I bought it for a description of some of the statistical tests while writing an SOP manual for validations for a toxicology lab. I found it very easy to understand, good descriptions of all the tests. Some of it I haven't seen described elsewhere, at least not in detail.

This is an excellent book
I got this book to supplement the book I use for teaching statistics. It will be a great resource for my students as it explains many applications of statistics.

Dated and concentrates on very noisy experimental data.
Dated but a good how to book with plenty of examples. However, the book deals solely with low level experimental data with significant noise which is true for complex chemical and material evaluations. I believe Langley practical statistics which describes the types of evaluations by method would be a better book for most and definitely the on for starting statistics or the book statistics manual by Crow, Davis, and Maxfield. If you are in the military, definitely start with The latter.

Well writen
Is an older book, but it's well written (sometimes I got a Math book and the author puts me to sleep, or I started to think that I am stupid because I do not understand, but keep reading I realize then that the book is written soo poor) As for example they use a symbol that is not described anywhere in the book, then need to get another book or google to figure out what it is with this book, there is not such a problem

Thorough Book, Great Statistical Analysis Reference.
Great book, has a lot of information on not only basic statistical analysis but on more rigorous methods as well. An older book but very valuable.
