Marshalls Creek SpicesOriential Five Spices Seasoning, 10 Ounce

There are numerous versions of five spice, using a wide variety of different spices, and specifically, the ones from Southern China have orange peel instead of clove, which is what this blend has. As with any spice blend, it's the buyer's responsibility to read the ingredients as shown in the images, and decide if that's what they want or not.I purchased this brand specifically because I don't care for anise, and was looking for a regional blend that didn't include it, rather than the most familiar blend; this product fit the bill perfectly. It is delicious, and has almost a floral quality to it that makes food taste special. It's especially good on pork!

I am a big fan of Marshall Creek spices and love the fact that you can buy larger quantities of the ones you use regularly. However, be forewarned about this Oriental Five Spice Powder. Under normal circumstances, Five Spice Powder contains anise or fennel, cinnamon, cloves, pepper and ginger. If you will read the ingredients closely, which I should have done, it contains cumin,coriander and orange peel along with ginger and cinnamon. This produces a sort of Middle Eastern or Mexican flavor and does not give you a typical or even close Five Spice flavor. The spice is fresh and I still trust Marshall Creek for spice purchases, but will not order the Oriental Five Spice from them again. Check out the others for a truer flavor. You will be glad you did.

This is my first time using Five Spice. It smelled nice and fresh when I opened it and everyone in the family liked the food I prepared, so I am comfortably haply with my purchase.

Great strong oriental spice. I will use it in my green tea in the morning since it has such a great cinnamon​ flavor hint.

The oriental five spice that I loved was running out and I couldn't find it any where , so I figured I'd buy from amazon along with some halloween treats. I figuered that most oriental five spice mixes would be similar.the mix that I have includes cinnamon, nutmeg, anise, ginger, and cloves. The oreiental five spice that i got from Marshalls Creek Spices included ginger, cinnamon, coriander, cumin, and orange peel. Clearly not the same taste. When selling mixed spices the seller (marshall creek spices) should list ingredients so that prospective buyers like me can make intelligent choices.

Creat combo of spices, it goes with almost anything

Very nice flavour profile, Unlike what I am used to buying but still very good. Citrus finish but a nice savoury start, I use it in my spinach egg omelet, and on chicken and fish dishes to add some exotic flavour.

I did not like this blend. It was far too rich in cinnamon. It had no anise flavor at all. Will order some star anise and make my own blend.

This is a scam. This has only one of the required spices. Asian 5 spice has fennel seeds, star anise, cinnamon, peppers and clove. On top of that there’s no return. Nowhere in the add did it say what the ingredients are.

Very tasty for flavouring practically anything, especially if you enjoy cumin.
