Fast paced, gripping but fell flat
The Housemaid Is Watching unfolds in four parts with an epilogue and multiple perspectives. The first two parts were gripping, fast paced, kept me hooked and suspecting everyone. In the later parts, I found myself wanting to get to the end. The plot twists in this didn't quite hit the spot for me. Frieda McFadden's books have been hit or miss for me so far. I liked the first book, The Housemaid, more than the other two.

Psychological thriller
Book Review — The Housemaid Is Watching by Freida McFadden Truly Dark. Too Twisted. Totally Addictive. Just when you thought it couldn’t get better, you pick the 3rd in the series and it leaves your jaw dropped! Tense and provocative, laced with secrets, it takes domestic suspense to an entirely different level. It’s racy in all the right ways — every chapter layered with deceit, desire, and danger. McFadden masterfully builds tension, layering suspicion, deceit, and subtle clues throughout. Just when you think you have it all figured out, she delivers a completely unexpected climax that flips everything on its head. It’s not just a twist — it’s a revelation that redefines everything that came before it. This story doesn’t just keep you on the edge of your seat — it pulls the rug out from under you. A must-read for lovers of domestic suspense. ★★★★★ #TheHousemaidIsWatching #FreidaMcFadden #ThrillerReview #CurrentlyReading #BookAesthetic #SuspenseReads #PsychologicalThriller #DarkReads #booksbooksbooks #bookreviews #bookrecco #bookstagrammer #bookobsessed

Charmed By Frieda McFadden
I don’t know if this means trouble, but I’m absolutely enjoying Freida McFadden books at this point. I finished The Housemaid Is Watching in just three sittings. Long ago, someone told me you shouldn’t stay stuck in “heavy literature” forever, and that you should wander into the thrilling world of trashy, low-effort entertainment books too. Over the years, I’ve tried to balance my reading choices, but in my 30s I think I’m throwing caution to the wind. Reading McFadden feels like a bag of chips on a random journey. The Housemaid series, at least, gives this adrenaline rush that feels… safe somehow. Unlike the previous two books, the pacing and cliffhangers feel a bit forced in the third one, but I think the payoffs still make the ride worth it. With these books, I want to be surprised, and this one lacked that a little. But in general, like any good thriller writer, McFadden invites the reader into the story and lets us (or at least me) do the guesswork. My literature degree taught me not to use books as social currency, but as tools to understand popular culture and the larger social order. And I think even through these “popcorn reads,” Freida McFadden is trying to make a point. At least in my understanding, across these books there’s a sense of domestic horror and violence she keeps circling, and she does it in a way that cuts across class. I’m intrigued to read one of her standalones next. I might go with another popular title, Never Lie, just to figure out if I’m actually charmed by the writer, or if it’s only the Housemaid series doing the heavy lifting. Read this one if you want to know Millie better, but maybe keep your expectations low.

binge-worthy finale to The Housemaid series
Mrs. Lowell, Millie’s new neighbor, warmly welcomes her and her family to the quiet cul-de-sac. But when she sees her husband, Enzo, her expression changes. When she settles to her family home things start happening. The Lowells’ maid makes her skin crawl, and she sees a mysterious figure lurking nearby. A woman from the house opposite advises her to be careful with neighbors. Suddenly, her once peaceful suburban street becomes the most dangerous place she has ever known and she begins to think perhaps she should not have moved there. Some secrets are revealed and conflicts arise as she struggles to save her family. Millie and Enzo, my favorite quirky characters, are back. Millie is a multi-dimensional anti-heroine with questionable morality, and Enzo is her perfect counterpart. Their children introduce new facets that are refreshing and the story is quite suspenseful with a murder mystery element that I did not foresee – pure Freida! The time shift to 11 years ago was perfect and the new neighbors are very much creepy. Although the pacing slows down in the first half, the latter part of the show is very stimulating. Just seeing old characters and how they interact with each other was the highlight of the episode. I am so sad that this series is over! Freida McFadden did a particularly great job with the ending as she gave the audience both a desire for more and a sense of contentment with the binge-worthy finale to The Housemaid series. Read it if you like ✔️ Mysterious neighbours ✔️ Suburban secrets ✔️ Watcher is the shadow ✔️ Psychological twist ✔️ Family under threat Happy reading!

A really crazy read.
I have loved The Housemaid and the other two books a lot. But this was kind of boring it didn't get me hooked up to the story until part 2 of this book started, of course the twist was unexpected, but it's very lengthy compared to the other two books. All in all a good read.

Great book. Loved the twists and the last adventure it gave to Millie and Enzo. It was a great ending to an epic couples story.
