OXO Good Grips Plastic Sugar Dispenser

It's perfect..size..spout.. quality!

This is a great little dispenser! I love it. Its only 5" tall which is perfect for storage on top of microwave and below the cabinets. Sturdy plastic and easy to refill and clean using a bottle brush.OXO always has good products, so glad I found this here!

I purchased this dispenser because I was tired of pulling down the large, heavy, sugar canister off the shelf every morning for my coffee. This does a great job in place of that. Pros: - lightweight - nice sized pour spout - easy to refill - easy to clean Cons: - on the small side (so if you’re someone like me who likes a little bit of coffee with my sugar, then you will find yourself refilling this a lot), but I knew that in advance so I wasn’t disappointed - others mention the spout can clog up (hot steam from coffee cup meets sugar from spout). Does this happen? Yes. Can it be prevented? Yes. Simply put your sugar in your coffee cup before you pour the coffee… no more clogs! Overall, I would definitely recommend this. The pros far outweigh the cons.

-- Update - 2015-07-22: Still using it today and am an expert at setting the nozzle (it's not that hard). Due to this longevity and not replacing it I'm upgrading my rating to 4/5. Short review: + Holds a lot of sugar + Keeps it dry + Wide mouth makes it quick to refill - Wide nozzle pours sugar very fast when opened fully. Need to learn to open it a fraction (say 1/4) to pour onto a spoon or it'll overflow -- Original Review: I bought this to measure sugar onto a spoon for my tea. Before I bought this dispenser I'd been using a sealed jar of sugar and a spoon, but once you use the same spoon to stir as well as measure the sugar, you quickly end up with a clumpy mess. This dispenser looks and feels sturdy and was easy to open and fill with sugar. With visions of a wonderful new world, free of clumpy sugar, were dancing through my head, I decide have a nice cup of tea to try the OXO dispenser. I gently tipped the dispenser towards the tea spoon, expecting a gentle flow, only to be surprised by a sudden torrent of sugar that instantly overwhelmed the spoon and scattered across the counter top. I'm not sure if it's the type of sugar that we have in the house, but mine just says "Sugar" on the box, so nothing special, but I can only imagine that the dispenser was made with larger grained sugar in mind. Now aware of the sugar throughput; I've become an expert at gently opening the spout a few fractions of an inch, so that only a small and manageable stream of sugar comes out. The down side to this technique is that if there are any clumps at all in the sugar it will block the flow, but this can be avoided by giving the dispenser a bit of a shake before starting the spout alignment and pouring technique. Another peeve with this dispenser is that the sugar granules get stuck between the sides of the spout and the sides and top of the opening, so when you open / close the spout there is a grinding sound and the spout may not close fully on the first try as you need to loosen the granules further. If you were using this to dispense larger measures of sugar, say for baking, then this will work great. If you're trying to dispense just a tea spoon at a time, it might be worth giving it a miss and trying something else. I'll be sticking with this for now, especially as I love the feeling of accomplishment every time I perform a perfect pour and don't end up dumping a whole tablespoon of sugar into my teacup.

A good addition to the kitchen that matches all of the other Good Grips pieces we already had, and the functionality was excellent. It does just what we wanted it to do!

Great little sugar dispenser. Very sanitary. Holds a good amount of sugar. Easy to screw off the top and put more sugar in. I haven’t tried to wash it yet. I imagine I’d probably hand wash. Use your own judgement. The only teensy little thing I don't like, is when you screw the top on, the sugar that’s left under the lid makes a crunching noise and I’m OCD so it drives me nuts. But hey, totally worth it. If I wasn’t so lazy, I’d just wipe it off before I screwed the lid on. No spoons to use and so easy to pour the sugar out onto my cereal etc.

The OXO 9 ounce sugar dispenser is exactly what I needed to handle the daily task of sweetening up my morning coffee! The 9 ounce capacity is enough for my needs, it is made of durable plastic instead of breakable glass, and it has a snap open-close spout which will prevent accidental spills if the dispenser ever falls over. The only improvement that I might recommend is the addition of a rubber gasket for the lid which would prevent the build-up of sugar at the top of the dispenser when it is used.

Great design. We needed a sugar dispenser for our office kitchens that had a spout, but with a closing seal. Fits the bill perfectly. No more sugar in open canisters with deposits left from several people using a spoon to dispense.
