Mine is definitely the original fragrance
I have been using this fragrance for many years now. It has probably been discontinued by Geoffrey Beane by now as you don't see it advertised or present in duty free or the main perfume retailers. I bought one of these first to just check that it was the real product as there were a couple of low reviews, but this is certainly the original product and is in the original packaging. In fact the batch numbers were the same with those I bought in a perfume shop in London a good few years ago which makes me think that this stock is the tail end of the last production run. I cant detect any loss of fragrance and my significant other tells me it smells just the same as it always has.

Classic men's EDT
Grey Flannel is one of those polarising scents that has stood the test of time, and then some. First launched in 1975 from one of the era's most regarded designers and perfumiers, it has remained largely unchanged ever since. A classy looking, minimalist smoked glass bottle, with a simple, rather cheap label and tight-fitting plastic cover for the EDT spray. Outer packaging is a basic, unremarkable, branded cardboard box. So much, so innocuous & even inexpensive. Well -at just over £19 as of 1 October '23 it isn't especially high priced. If you don't know it of old though, the package belies the reality, because Grey Flannel was, and still is, one of the most potent of the '70s-era scents: more so than Pacco Rabanne, and a precursor to the monster that was (and still is, despite being hobbled by ill-judged reformulations) YSL's Kouros. 'Potent' is in fact an understatement -if you're accustomed to the aenemic, short-lived scents that largely took hold post the mid-'90s, 'go easy' is the message, because one or two sprays of this will last a full day on most skin types, and very obviously. It's a complex scent, with massive potency on initial application, the blast of alderhydes being quite overpowering. In theory it's a chypre style, with a belt of florals underpined by vetiver and oakmoss. Once the first cavalry-charge of bitter galbanum, bergamot, lemon and neroli, it dries down to a hefty, powdery stability, with the complex mix of florals and herbs balanced by the heavies of aromatic woods, grasses and nuts masquerading as amber. Old-fashioned in a good way, and quintessentially 'British' despite in fact haling from the US and France: think a hot flannel in an old-fashioned barber-shop, the kind of scent you might find Ratty and Mole recognising in the midst of the English countryside, or perhaps Sir Clinton Driffield wearing in J. J. Connington's masterpieces of detective fiction of the 1920s and '30s. Tailor-made suits, custom shotguns and walking-sticks, and that odd feel of well-heeled scruffiness you might find in a northern counties country house or castle on a wet autumn afternoon. Ideal for the colder months of the year, and given both the potency and the relatively large 120ml bottle, exceptional value. It may not suit those obsessed with the latest fashions or brand-names, but for those who've either moved beyond that, or never cared in the first place -a superb scent, which is one of my favourites alongside Bronnley's magnificent English Fern. Highly recommended.

Nice smell and packaging.
Love this product. Smells great. It doesn’t have a spray top, you just pour it into your hands and splash it all over your face. Prefer a spray.

A clean fresh fragrance with a light violet note. Gets many compliments from people curious to what I'm wearing. Love it, will buy again.

Not as strong a scent as it used to be
This has been a real favourite of mine for many years. This one was a disappointment though - less strong a smell, not quite the same scent as it used to be. Maybe they’ve switched to cheaper ingredients to keep the price low?

Grey Flannel is not just a cologne—it’s a statement.. From the very first spray, you’re hit with a sharp, green, slightly powdery blend of citrus, violet, oakmoss, and woods that dries down into a warm, masculine scent that lingers throughout the day. Grey Flannel is bold, unapologetic, and refined. It reminds me of well-dressed men in tailored suits, quiet confidence, The longevity is excellent, and the projection is strong, so a little goes a long way. If you're into rich, old-school fragrances with character, Grey Flannel delivers in every way—and at a great price point, too.
