There are a bunch of these type of devices on the market. They all make some pretty big claims, and some actually work. Everything from finding cameras, to GPS trackers, these things fall somewhere between novelty, and professional tool. This device actually does everything it says. It is not the most sensitive device, and really helps if you know where the device you're tracking is, it really makes it easier to tune it in. You do kind of have to know what you are looking for, tune it in to a device like that, and then scan the vehicle. Once tuned in, this device can find my Wi-Fi Gateway, and some other Wi-Fi devices in my house. Of course, I have to stand right by it, tune the device until it starts going off, and then back away. When I go back in the area, the device starts to Signal louder and louder as I get closer. It can also detect cameras, if you are good at it. Even knowing where cameras are, it is kind of hard to spot them with this device. You have to have it pointed directly into the lens, be dead on with the camera, and then you may catch a reflection of the actual camera lens. This device does not have the IR detector feature, that a lot of these devices come with. That is actually a pretty cool feature that will pick up any IR, even from a remote control to your tv. Almost all little cameras work on ir, for limited night vision. This would be a great feature to add to this device, to make it a lot more functional. It also detects magnetic fields/GS. That is how they intend to have you find a GPS tracker. Most GPS trackers that are attached to vehicles, attached via very powerful magnet. If you set the device to GS, install the antenna wand with the LED notification bulb at the tip, you use that to scan the vehicle, and if it runs across the magnet the tip will light up and an alarm will sound. This actually seems to be the most functional setting. It actually works very well at finding magnets. Overall, it is a pretty cool little device. It does do a lot of what it says. Definitely wouldn't recommend it be the only tool you use to scan, but still highly recommended, especially at the price.

I purchased this detector out of curiosity. I wanted to see what it could do. The instruction manual was not translated too well but there was enough information to get the idea of how it works. After some experimenting, I was able to detect various RF signals including wireless access points, my laptop, my old cordless phone and my cell phone. To set up the unit for RF detection turn it on and adjust the knob until you get a solid beep and high reading on the signal bar. Now, back it off just enough to stop the beeping and signal reading. Now you are ready to start searching for bugs and other RF devices. As soon as you get close to a radio frequency source the alarm goes off. It worked great for my cell phone and even a nearby wireless access point. It's very sensitive. It took a bit longer to understand how the hidden camera detector worked. I finally determined that you set it to "light mode" which turns the LEDs on for the device. If you aim the detector at a camera and look through the lens you will see red dots where the infrared LEDs are located on the camera. It actually works very well and it's very clear when you have found a camera. Even a small one would be detectable. The next feature I tried was the magnetic field detector. I finally realized that you hold down the MS button until it turns to GS mode. Also, make sure you have the black whip attached as that is the magnetic detector. I couldn't think of a particular use for magnetic mode, but I can tell you it easily detects the presence of a magnet. The unit lights right up. All in all, it's a fun unit to play with but even more interesting it is truly useful for detecting bugs and other communication devices and even magnetism. This thing works well enough that I think I would be able to detect bugs and cameras in a room in fairly short order. Very cool.

This bug finder/gps/ camera locator works well if you know how to use it. While a bit tricky at first, as long as you follow the instructions manual it’s not hard as all to use. I’ve tried it at home with out indoor cameras and it finds the camera lense when looking through the RFID lens hole. When cellular signal finding, I hid a phone and Apple Watch under a heap of cloths and when the antenna gets close to the clothes the alarm sounds. With some practice and an understanding of its function and utility, this device is a must have if you frequent hotels or rental properties as an added layer of security and piece of mind.

To be clear, it's not a magical device and it has thrown up a couple false positives as it often looks for frequencies that are more commonly found in a house. But more importantly, if you're a constant traveler, this would be a great tool when you settle down into your questionable room for the night.
