I had considered a kick-ash basket for a while, but the price was always a little hard to justify. Yeah, yeah I know. $1200 grill problems. I consider myself to be selectively cheap. I just couldn't see spending that much on a wire basket. Then along came this one...As far as I can tell, it does the same thing for half the price. Bye bye, factory stock fireplate and the associated airflow problems. I can tell a major difference in airflow. Whereas before it was hard to get up above 425 and impossible to get much above 500-550, now I can get my KJ2 up to 750+ for great pizzas. I've actually had it above 800 for a few minutes, until the charcoal burned down. 425 for burgers used to take 45-60 minutes of preheating. Now I can get there in 10-15 minutes.The only downside with switching to a basket is that you have to relearn your grill. My vent settings are totally different. The natural draft is so good now that the fire will slowly drift hotter without touching the vents. Even my digiq has trouble maintaining temps some days even with no gasket leaks. This can be a problem for low and slow cooks, but it doesn't happen frequently. It makes burgers and steaks faster and easier though.Until you use an ash basket, you don't realize how much airflow gets restricted as the charcoal burns and the ash builds up on a stock fireplate. This basket is awesome 5/5.

Handles are too tall to work properly with kamado Joe classic. Seems to be made well. Will cut handles off most likely.

I read quite a few reviews regarding whether or not the would fit the Kamado Joe and people said it would, and others said it wont.Short answer is that it WILL fit and accommodate the Divide & Conquer rack, but just barely. If you remove the cast iron KJ grate, there is plenty of room. If you leave the cast iron grate on, the Divide & Conquer rack still works, although not perfectly because the basket handles are slightly taller than ideal. None of this height issue is a problem though in real world use - the Divide & Conquer rack still works, although not perfectly. I suppose you could bend the handles inward a hair and everything would be fine.

I liked the fact of being able to pull out the charcoal from a basket rather than having to scoop it out and it works quite well with getting the fire up and going, great product.

After wasting my time getting the “name brand” accessory made by same manufacturer as my smoker, I had to find one that actually worked and fit.This fits the Joe Classic II very well, and it allows you to use your heat deflectors, something the other options (including official model) don’t allow.

This is a real convenience item for use with the big green egg. It enhances both the ease of cleaning and the performance of the unit at about half the cost of the major brand. It is sturdy and well constructed. Fit a large green egg perfectly.
