Leather Strop (LS2P1)

This is like the leather and compound that came in a Beavercraft kit I received, except the leather is a little wider. This kit comes with really good instructions and links to other really good videos. I think this kit is really good and I would buy it again. I have been able to keep the knife from my original kit nice and sharp.

Works great, quality is good and not cheap

The BeaverCraft LS2P1 Stropping Leather Strop stands out for its excellent leather thickness and reversible design, making it an ideal size for bench stropping. The leather feels substantial and performs very well for refining and maintaining sharp edges. Out of the box, the only drawback is that the strop can slide around during use. To solve this, I mounted it to a wooden base using contact adhesive and added a non-slip backing. Since I primarily strop on the suede side, I glued it suede-side up—and the result is fantastic. It’s now a rock-solid bench strop that I reach for after every sharpening session. Overall, this is a high-quality strop with excellent leather, and with a simple mounting solution, it becomes an outstanding bench sharpening tool.

Great strop

I paired this strop with a cheap diamond sharpening plate set and it got my cheap Amazon basic chisels to a razor sharp finish. It isn't very thick but most people will mount this on a piece of wood or something so that doesn't really matter. Works very well, comes with honing compound which is a huge bonus and it's very easy to use. Overall just about the best value for the money you can get.

Smell VERY strong of gas, thinner, or other noxious chemical such that had to immediately wash it with soap and water and about 1/2 the smell but still not able to have indoors so left outside in the sun to "off gas" and it was a little better. However, I would NOT recommend this be kept indoors because of the smell. I leave it in the garage with the other chemicals and use it there or outside. Since I have 400, 1000, and 6000 grit diamond sharpening stones already I don't know if this actually helps; after using the diamond sharpening stones the knives are very sharp and do not see / feel a difference after using this chemical strap. Giving 3 stars because the experts say it helps to use leather and this appears to be real leather and thus I guess it does what is intended.

Perfect for that last step in the sharpening process. I put mine in my small bench vise (horizontal) and strop away. Great product!

Just the right size for stropping blades

Didn’t appear to be double-sided. Seemed to be mounted to on some synthetic material which didn’t matter to me since I attached it to a board as a strop. But l believe it shouldn’t be called double-sided.
