It works!
It works, grips lids easily and provides enough leverage to open any thing. Easy to use; lock in place, then turn. Sturdy construction, plastic with metal gripping teeth. Works so well I Gifted to my 80+ mother. She has commented numerous time how easy it is to use. Now I'm buying another for my self.

Great item! Wonderful for those who have grip problems
I am a woman living alone and I have started developing arthritis in some of my fingers so opening some jars (usually plastic jars with plastic lids, where you cannot use the go-to trick of banging the edge of the metal lid with the back end of a knife to make it easier to open!), and this has made life SO much easier. I have used it on a number of different sized jars and it always works effortlessly. I even used it on one particularly stubborn plastic water bottle!

Works great
Best lid opener I had used. In my younger days I had the strength and didn't need any mechanical assistance. But after to many birthdays it seems jar lids have been screwed on tighter. This opener is simple to use and grips most lids on the first try to make opening so easy.

Perhaps my expectations were too high....
The good news is that this is the best jar opener I have used, though I have only used two or three others in the past. Still, I was a bit disappointed. I purchased it because one brand of pasta sauce I really enjoy has lids that are consistently screwed on more tightly than any other product I use. Although I am now able to open these jars with the Mightigrip, it is still more of a struggle than I anticipated from both the marketing material and the Amazon reviews I read. The Mightigrip appears to be well-made, and it does reduce the effort I need to open jar lids. But for the tightest jar lids, like those that come with the aforementioned pasta sauce, you still need a firm grip and reasonable strength to open them. Perhaps this is the among the best reasonably priced, completely non-electric jar openers available, but it cannot perform miracles when faced with really tight jar lids, particularly if you have diminished arm/wrist strength.

What a great invention!
I had three jars of spaghetti sauce and couldn't open any of them. I'm 70 and live alone and didn't feel like traipsing over to the neighbor to ask for help. I felt I was going to sprain my wrist of I tried with any more strength. So off to find the right gadget to save my sanity. This had great reviews and for a good reason. It works! It's simple! Easy peasy. And I don't seem like a helpless LOL (Little Old Lady) anymore :)

Its all about torque!
I bought this as a gift for a young adult with small hands. It works great! The handle provides excellent leverage, and the metal grippers really grab the cover. Easy to adjust to a wide variety of jar cover sizes. Very pleased.

The design is great-but the my opener was flawed
The jar opener worked one time to specifications. But after that I could never get the opener to grip any size bottle. One of the 3 arms did not retract properly which prevented a good grip on the bottle.

This will end your struggles to open bottles and jars
I'm an active senior, no arthritis or mobility issues but as I age, so does my skin. And I've found opening bottles with twist-off tops has been becoming more painful as my skin feels like the friction is shredding it. This opener solves that problem easily. Usually I can turn a jar upside down and tap the lid on the counter to loosen it, but I no longer have to do that with this tool. My husband is my go-to guy for hard to open jars but the other day we came across one that even he couldn't open...this opener made short work of it. It's a large tool but it's flat so it stores easily in a drawer and is easy to hold and to use. If you know anyone who struggles with opening jars and bottles (especially Gatorade bottles!), then I recommend this as a great little gift.

Another great Starfrit product.
I enjoy independence. That is why I need to have the Starfrit Mightigrip Jar Opener. Mightigrip has helped me to open every lid that I have taken on, without having to call on the stronger folks with stronger hands. I know I will use some of the other features over the coming months.

Worst opener ever
It is terrible for opening jars. It's so narrow it constantly slips off, horrible if you have bad wrists. I don't even use anymore.

Very Easily Operated Opener
After frustration with electrically operated jar openers I recently purchased three manual openers from Amazon. They each have strengths and weaknesses: we’re keeping all three. The Starfrit was one of them. The Kichwit and the Leifheit 03131 were the other two. To successfully open a jar the opener should: fit common jar sizes; allow me to tightly grip the top of the jar; provide leverage to help me turn the top; hold the body of the jar to prevent it from rotating. None of my manual jar openers held the jar body: sometimes another person was needed to hold it. The Starfrit 093314 fits tops up to about 9 cm. in diameter and grips the top by an easily operated screwing motion. No great strength is needed to effect the grip and the opener’s arm provides good leverage in removing the top. No very strong wrist strength is needed. However, you do need to ensure that you have screwed the jar grip sufficiently well so it doesn’t slip on the top. So far, we have been able to easily do that but it sometimes required a second try.

Great Arthritis Aide
I have arthritis and can't fully close my hands anymore, which makes trying to open bottles and jars really difficult. I love this thing! It really helps and it's so adjustable. Thoroughly recommend it. From a ketchup bottle lid to a big pickle jar, really works!

Please bring back the older version!
We had one of the older Starfrit jar openers (with a tightening knob) for years, before we finally had to replace it. We even purchased some for family members as gifts, because ours was so handy. We have had this newer version for less than 5 months and have only used it a handful of times. My hubby was opening a jar of pickles with it last night and it broke.I have contacted the company for warranty…we will see how good their customer service is.
