Works Great
very easy for a backyard perimeter to keep my little digger away from the fence line. Would recommend for small areas like mine.

Good But Fragile
Does a good job keeping small animals out of the garden but unit is fragile both terminals on my unit broke loose from housing and battery cover system failed on the second battery swap. The unit still functions after my home repairs and the squirrels hate it!

Battery-operated electric fence
I had bought 3, 4" diameter large trees and planted them in our pasture for our horses to have shade with in the hot summer months. One of our horses started eating the bark off the trees so we wanted a way to put a small electric fence around the trees. We bought one of these devices to see if it would work. I read the reviews and that is why I bought this one. The diameter of the fence to be electrified is approx. 35 feet. After installing it and grounding it adequately, we turned it on. The light came on to indicate it was working and tested it with the Zareba UFT Universal fence tester. The tester did not indicate power, but the horses are staying away from the tree. So I'm safe to say that it is working. I have several solar powered electric fence devices that work great, but much more expensive...so I don't think I'm giving this device a fair review. This device was $50.00 and the solar powered were $100.00 plus. I bought this just to see if it would do the small distance and it did what I wanted. It is flimsy and all my horses would have to do is step on it and it would be destroyed...you can't attach it to a T post like the solar powered devises, so you have to use the small bracket and push it in the ground. The devise would work on small animals, like dogs, but I'm safe to say not large animals and a larger distance. It is severing the purpose for my use and the tree is protected for our horse, so far.

Not very reliable
Bought 2 of these in June of 2014 and use them to charge small fenced areas in my backyard to keep the dog out of our small garden and other areas where I am trying to re-grow grass. They work perfectly great for that purpose - WHEN they work which was only for about the first couple of weeks I had them. Both units now work intermittently but mostly not at all. With new batteries installed one will "charge" up for 1 cycle and then stop. Flicking the switch off and then back on results in the same thing- 1 cycle. The other one I put new batteries in yesterday and when I came home today from work it was not working. Turn the switch off and back on and it will charge for a while and then stop. Its been charging for the last half hour or so but will probably stop some time between now and tomorrow. I have kept both units covered in a plastic bag and hanging right side up on a fence post so I dont think water intrusion is a issue. I would not recommend these.

Took 2 to get it somewhat right...
Had a problem with 2 puppies who quickly learned to dig under our fence and run out. Short segment electric fences were recommended by a boarder. Needed a rapid solution, and no one delivers much faster than amazon. However, unit arrived and was installed in conjunction with Havahart A20-KX accessory kit as per provided instructions. Unit would not charge the fence consistently, and mostly not at all. Quickly ordered a replacement to remedy the problem. The second unit functioned appropriately, but only for several weeks. If you are considering this item to contain/train puppies or grown dogs of their boundaries, it is no substitute for other fence options. While the second unit functioned (albeit not as long as I would have expected), this product may have some value in deterring unwanted wildlife. But that was not my intended use.

GREAT
I own four of these. I use them to run hot tape along a wood fenceline in different areas of my property to keep horses off the fence. Yes, horses. It give just enough of a zap that horses will stay back and not lean on the fence. The fact that it runs off of 2 D batteries is GREAT. I replace my batteries probably every 1-2 months. SO easy to hook up and since it's battery operated, it can go anywhere.NOTE: The only reason I own four of them is that I couldn't run a continues line in all of the areas I needed hot tape. Otherwise you don't need more than one if you are running a continous line.Another NOTE: I would not use this mild of a fence charger for an electric ONLY fence. LIke I said, I use this to run a top line of hot tape along a solid fence. If you are housing horses in JUST electric tape, you will need a stronger charger.

seems ok
Unit seems to work good. Lot more convenient than stringing an extension cord out to the back of my property. Bought it to keep my dogs from digging out from under my fence. working so far.
