TL;DR: The Acer Nitro is a solid budget-friendly gaming laptop that balanced school and gaming well. Loud fans, weak battery gaming, and fragile screen were drawbacks, but it handled demanding games at high settings and was great for a student lifestyle who fancies gaming in free time. I used my Acer Nitro V 15 daily for both school and gaming, and for the price, it really impressed me with how versatile it was. Definitely felt like a purchase worth it. As a full time college student taking online classes, this laptop was more than enough for productivity. Typing was seamless for the many essays and assignments I had to crank out, and it handled regular browsing with multiple tabs without breaking a sweat. I don’t do heavy creative work like video editing, but for what I did use it for, it never let me down. Gaming was where it really surprised me. Titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us Part II ran great at high settings, delivering smooth, immersive gameplay that felt way beyond what I expected at this price point. Paired with an external 2K 144Hz monitor at times and it kept up without any issues. Portability was another big win. While it isn’t the lightest laptop out there, carrying it in a case made it easy to take from work to the library or just toss in my backpack. Honestly, I barely noticed the weight after a while. Of course, there are trade-offs. The fan noise is one to note. On auto, it can get loud under load, and on max, it’ll easily fill a quiet room. That said, cooling does its job, and with headphones it wasn’t a dealbreaker. The other thing: gaming unplugged was basically a no-go. Performance dropped heavily on battery, which surprised me at first, but since I always had access to an outlet, it didn’t really affect my routine. On light use like schoolwork or browsing, I’d get about 2–3 hours on battery. The display itself was fine, standard but enjoyable. Unfortunately, mine cracked after about a year from what felt like light pressure, which was disappointing and ultimately why I’m moving on to a new laptop. On the bright side, upgrading was a breeze. I swapped in 32GB of RAM and added a 2TB SSD, which gave me more headroom for multitasking and plenty of storage for my game library. That definitely added to the experience. Overall: The Acer Nitro V 15 delivered a great balance of school and gaming performance in a portable package. It’s not flawless, the fans get loud, battery gaming is basically impossible, and the screen durability left me wanting more, but for the time I used it, it played the games I wanted at high settings and fit perfectly into my student lifestyle. For the price, it’s a solid entry into gaming laptops.

Great laptop. Has handled every game I've thrown at it so far. I did upgrade the hard drive and ram so I'm basing my review off of an upgraded machine. I used the PC for about 3 weeks before upgrading and had no issues beforehand either. The only drawback of this laptop is the fans are incredibly loud, it doesn't me that much but every time I've had company someone mentions it sounds like a helicopter about to take off.

I’ve been using this Laptop for over a year now. I’m a gamer, mainly an RPG gamer, as well as a Fullstack Web developer. I wanted a laptop that I could game AND work on that was easy to travel with. I love this computer. I play games like Baldurs Gate 3, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, Overwatch, Final Fantasy VII Remastered, etc. A lot of times on max or high graphics and it’s been smooth, barely any issues when it comes to performance. I do also use this computer to work. I code for hours on end on it and it works great, I have been able to create full stack apps using this computer. Running multiple programs at a time. The downside, I did have to replace the ram as it was not enough. But the laptop was very easy to open and there are two slots for ram. I replaced it when 2 16gb sticks of ram and it’s been running even better ever since. Be careful if you do this because it does void the warranty, however I didn’t see any warranty stickers and as soon as I closed everything up, it looked just as I bought it. The storage isn’t much, I can’t keep many games on it as much as I’d like, but there is a second slot inside the computer to add more internal storage if you like, this doesn’t bother me too much because I just uninstall the games I’m not currently playing and replace them with the ones I do. The fans can be quite loud especially when plugged in, and I find that the charge doesn’t last a while, but that is to be expected with a powerful gaming laptop. I try not to keep it plugged in constantly though I haven’t dealt with any over heating issues which is great. NitroSense really helps me monitor it as well. I highly recommend this laptop, it’s affordable for a gaming laptop and powerful. I really have loved it for the past year I’ve been using it, and I use it everyday for hours. I covered the front of the computer in stickers because I think the design on the front is a bit tacky. I replaced my old gaming desktop that needed some new parts with this laptop knowing that I needed the portability for traveling across the world, and I do not regret it. It runs even better than my desktop. It’s easy to connect to my second monitor, my gaming mouse, headphones, etc. I hope it lasts me a while. This is a great laptop.

The hardware specs on this are truly outstanding for the price. The screen looks great, keyboard and trackpad feel are nice, and it has enough ports and cooling to do everything well. My one complaint is that this came pre-loaded with gobs of bloatware. Not even kidding it had 4 different antivirus programs and 5 web browsers installed, along with a bunch of other Acer-specific garbage software that is useless. On first bootup the machine feels incredibly slow since all of this pre-installed software loads and pops up continuously, it feels unusable. After I spent a couple hours removing and uninstalling all of it, then getting all the Windows updates completed, it runs like a dream. Gaming is absolutely fantastic on this, at highest settings it still runs great. Just be prepared to invest the time removing the terrible software they attempt to force-feed you, and you’ll be happy.

What can I say? For the price, you're getting a machine that can play modern AAA games at medium/low settings with ~60fps (tested Horizon Zero Dawn so far, steady 60 at low settings). Can easily run older games at high settings/high frames. Absolute beast for emulation on the go, only outclassed by the likes of the steam deck and rog ally in terms of portability. The specs are decent for an entry level budget laptop. The 4050 is an entry level gpu (especially for a laptop gpu), and so is the i5, but don't let that dissuade you, this laptop is plenty powerful for the price. The perk of having a 40 series gpu of course is dlss 3.0 and frame gen. The main issue of course is the storage and ram. Both easy upgrades. The motherboard supports two nvme drives (one being gen 4 and the other gen 3) and two ram slots. The first thing I did was upgrade my storage and ram (1tb gen 3 ssd and 32 gbs of ram, an extra ~150) which is necessary if you plan on playing modern games. Overall, a great little entry level machine that you will not be disappointed with. Definitely try to get on sale. EDIT: GPU crapped out on me not even a couple months later after purchase. Was experiencing blue screens constantly until one day the laptop started to refuse to recognize the gpu. Upon further research, this is a very common issue with this series of laptops from Acer. The RMA process is a pain, and they offer no local dropoff outside of their repair center in Texas. Hit or miss if you'll get a working product or a detective one, buyers beware. EDIT 2: They would not repair my laptop because of "water damage" (common term by first party entities, those who do not support right to repair - easy to dismiss in their TOA and other agreements you supply as a consumer). If you google this laptop, you'll see most failures are the GPU, and the customer cannot get it RMA'd because of "water damage" or other failures. The fact is these are mainly mainboard issues as the quality and production on these PCBs are terrible. I was sent a picture of the copper heatsink with oxidization as my reason for no repair. The failure rate of vital parts in this product is not worth the price tag. If you want an actual gaming laptop, please spend the money for vetted higher brand product. Last edit: Get an HP victus on sale. Dropped this thing three times and am finishing up Kingdom Come deliverance 2 with close to 144 frames with a 4070 laptop GPU and an AMD ryzen 7 for ~ 900 on sale from bestbuy.

Computer itself is really good and fast. The only thing that slows it down is MS Windows as you know. I have used windows from the start. I used Windows XP right up to 2020, when Internet Security protocols stopped their support, XP was the best, and Windows 7 was the last best. After Windows 7 MS windows went down hill. If Apple would have more user friendly programs, or Apps as they are called nowadays, a lot more people would be switching over. As well as the open software platforms such as Linux, etc. But MS pretty much had a monopoly on the OS being sold on new computer sales and that is how they got so big so fast, and why people did not have too much of a choice, and therefore got used to using the MS windows OS. As you probably know, all the trouble came from the windows updates, anything and everything that could go wrong came from the updates. That is why I was able to use my Windows XP until 2020, I never did updates. You are probably thinking then why am I buying this computer as MS now forces updates to go through on all newer computers with their OS on it, as they want to keep control of everything that you do now and want to know everything that you are searching for. Well I got so used to using windows. I like the interface interaction, and now I have to do a lot of manipulating to get the files and such working as older versions. But, once you do, it gets better. Of course I disable updates and Edge. So after a little tweaking this computer works well, although not like MS intended it to work. And one feature of all windows, which I think is the best, (MS will probably do something to it after I post this review) is the backwards compatibility feature. With this feature you can load an older version of Software or an old Game and it will work on the newer computer. As an example I am using Software Programs that are close to twenty years old and Games that are sixteen years old.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Dedicated gpu laptop at best price in could find. Awesome laptop, I upgraded the RAM to 32GB right away since easy to do and RAM Cards were on sale. Runs AAA games on highest resolutions perfectly. Also great comes with thunderbolt connection so if need more gpu power on future can do so with external gpu. The 4050 Dedicated gpu is a game changer literally! Previous laptop had integrated gpu and even though was made in 2024 struggled with games even at lowest graphic settings. Having the Nitro has made gaming so much better with stunning visuals in game and zero stuttering or lagging! Upgrading the ram and ssd cards is easy install. Also you will want to get Nvidia app it updates gpu driver and helps optimize your gaming settings for best performance. Definitely recommend this laptop!
