Good but can take a while to charge
Purchased this sprayer after having the garden landscaped and wanted to avoid neighbourhood cats from doing their business. It’s great that this is completely portable and doesn’t need a hosepipe. Just be warned that the product needs to be turned on to charge and the first charge took about a week (in UK weather) before it would have enough power. When it gets going it is impressive but you may want to inform guests if they venture into the garden!

Avoid- Waste of money!
Having looked at reviews of this item, I was concerned about the specification of the hose connector - is it standard BSP or a USA fitting? The cheaper alternatives such as 'PestBye' and 'Defenders' had such varied reviews that I decided to order the 'Havahart Spray Away'. I used a 3/4" BSP Draper Accessory Connector (Stock No. 89386) - this screws into the Spray Away with the filter gasket in place. However, the female hose connection ISN'T a perfect BSP fit and needs sealing with PTFE tape to stop the hose bursting off under water pressure. I found that the spike stand on it's own was not rigid enough to resist wind moving the unit slightly, causing 'false alarms' so I used bricks to steady it and this solved the problem. Apart from the hose connector problem, I am impressed with the quality of this item - hopefully it will do it's job should a predator arrive to admire my pond!UPDATE- I don't recommend this product.(1 star) Mine is already broken and useless. It doesn't use UK fittings for water supply connection so it requires a 'botch up' to use it. Therefore, IT SHOULD NOT BE SOLD IN THE UK. I have now bought the 'Home Defence ScareCrow' to replace it - which is a far superior product and available through Amazon.

A product that requires connection to a hose should be easily connected to a hose...
The device itself seems to work fine. Early days so not sure about reliability as it seems fairly lightweight and no weather sealing around the battery compartment so judgement is being reserved. The issue with the product is the hose connection. It requires a screw fitting which is not supplied and is not readily available. Once I did source the correct connector it became apparent that the screw threading on the SprayAway is not deep enough to hold in the connector. The only way to make it hold was to remove the filter and rubber seal (giving more depth on the screw threads) and use a large amount of plumbing tape to make the seal watertight. I don't expect a product to need botching in order to make it work. The power of the water jet is good and the sensor seems responsive. I just wish they had thought through the connector...

which cats don't like. Its can only sense objects at a 90 ...
I've had this for 6 weeks. It was fiddly to set up and didn't come with the attachment to connect the hose. In warm weather it goes off constantly, so you have to turn down the sensitivity to below five. For the money I paid, I'd have wanted something a little more robot. It shoots water in a horizontal arch, to about 3 meters and makes a kinda hissing noise, which cats don't like. Its can only sense objects at a 90 degree angle to its centre. No for the good part. I was plagued with 6 different cats. Once I set up the Havahart Spray Away, they learned very quickly and have stayed away ever since. On balence, I'd say it was a good buy

... years ago and I have found it to be excellent at deterring foxes
I bought this item a couple of years ago and I have found it to be excellent at deterring foxes, cats and squirrels from doing their mischief on my lawn. It did such a good job that last year I did not need to use it at all because they had learned their lesson. However this year the pests have returned so I have just reinstated it. Like others I was disappointed that it was not straightforward to connect it to a hose straight out of the box but I found that for less than a pound I was able to get a brass hose connector from Toolstation that fitted perfectly (however the manufacturer should supply these as part of the kit because that is the reason they did not get a 5 star rating from me).

Needs a lot of sunshine
I needed something to protect the trees from deer but couldn't use the hose so decided to give it a try. The battery does take a while to charge so at first I wasn't too sure whether it is working at all or not, but after two-three weeks it started to spray some water when I was coming next to it and my young trees still haven't been eaten so I guess it works. It is quite expensive though so make sure you've got enough sunshine to keep it going.

Got my spray and was very happy with it
Got my spray and was very happy with it, the nozzel and assoc parts could be better made (not plastic) provided you are careful it could last a long time. Down side is I cant get it to spray close to the unit from 1 to 6 feet which is ideal for my situation, maybe they could make a shorter model or sort the spray out to include 1 to 6 feet effective spraying. also found the critter ridder good stuff but very expensive so not likely to buy it regularly.

As with other reviews I've read this item is unpredictable at best. You don't have to be in front of the sensor to trigger the spray. While in other instances workmen have unknowingly stood in front of the sensor with their hands wiggling before it and it has not been triggered. Puzzling.
