Super Ferby Giant Triangular Colored Pencil, Unlacquered, 6.25 Millimeter Cores, Assorted Colors, 18-Pack (3711180)

My review from a 6-ct. Super Ferby pencil purchase, plus notes on this 18-ct. package: My Top 5 Reasons to Love These LYRA Colored Pencils (in no particular order): 1. Triangular shape helps little people form good hand grips on the pencil. 2. Vibrant colors allow minimal coloring to achieve good coverage. 3. Thick color core doesn't break. 4. Requires infrequent sharpening! 5. Unlacquered version looks + feels good (less-slip grip) + safe for curious baby mouths! This is our first experience with LYRA and we're never going back to Crayola colored pencils. These are well worth the additional expense because they last so much longer and are superior in quality and performance. :) UPDATE 12-18-2012: We've owned these pencils for 8 months now, and they are used every day by our three children (we do a lot of coloring around here!). They have never broken, and we still have 3+ inches left of each pencil. I expect them to last until at least April 2013 (one year from when we purchased them). We will likely purchase the larger color spectrum set in the future since we are so satisfied with them. UPDATE 6-30-2013: Still going strong. A couple of the pencils are nearing their end in terms of length, and we'll need to order a new set in the next few months, but as stated before, we are still completely satisfied with these pencils. UPDATE 12-29-13: We still have 5 of the original 6 pencils purchased in April of 2012, though they are all about 1-2" long now. We just purchased the 18 ct. Super Ferby package. Everything stated above is true of these pencils too. This package contains an additional 12 colors, including metallic gold and silver. The pencils come in a reusable storage tin with dividers for each pencil. The larger quantity is a better price per pencil than the smaller quantities available. I expect that these pencils will last us a minimum of two years, hopefully three or more. *Side note: We own the "Super Furby" pencils. The "Super" version are longer than the regular "Furby" version and a better value.

This review is for this item along with Lyra Color-Giants Unlacquered Colored Pencils, 6.25 Millimeter Cores, Set of 18 in Tin Case, Assorted Colors and Lyra Color Giants Pencils, 6.25mm Lead, Set of 12, Unlacquered . Lyra’s Super Ferby Giant Triangular Colored Pencils, Unlacquered (set of 18), and Lyra’s Color Giants Pencils, Unlacquered – set of 18 and set of 12 are essentially the same item except the Super Ferby pencils are triangular shaped, while the Color Giants are hexagonal in shape. Triangular shaped pencils are ideal for smaller hands or young children who are now learning to use fine motor skills and these pencils help in learning the proper tripod grip. Hexagonal shaped pencils have well-defined edges and allows the child to establish a firm grip anywhere on the pencil. These are suitable for older children who have already mastered pencil grip. Apart from those two distinctions the Super Ferby and the Color Giants pencils both have the following features: 1. 6.89 inches (17.5cm) in length 2. An unlacquered, natural wood barrel that’s safe for young children 3. Highly pigmented intense colors that allows for very little pressure to be applied to the pencil to be able to see the color (image). 4. Strong break-resistant and long-lasting lead that does not require frequent sharpening 5. Smudge proof and waterproof 6. Made in Germany Lyra’s Color Giants Pencils, Unlacquered (set of 12) comes in a cardboard box and includes these colors: silver, gold, lemon yellow, sap green (forest green), light orange (a bright orange), scarlet lake (red), violet (purple), light blue (cornflower), Prussian blue (navy), pink madder lake (pink), light flesh (pale orange), venetian red (a brown). Lyra’s Super Ferby Giant Triangular pencils, Unlaquered set of 18 and the Lyra’s Color Giants Pencils, Unlacquered (set of 18) comes in a metal tin and includes these colors: white, zinc yellow, lemon, light orange, scarlet lake, light carmine, pink madder lake, light flesh, violet, light blue, Prussian blue, sap green, apple green, Vandyke brown, Venetian red, black, gold and silver. Overall, I highly recommend any of the different sets of Lyra colored pencils. They are unique and provide a very different experience from the standard color pencils, and will truly inspire the artist within! Grade A++ ***Please Note*** Lyra also makes a Lacquered version and a Ferby version of these pencils. The lacquered versions simply have a coordinating barrel color to the lead color, and Ferby pencils are simply shorter (4.72 inches) than Super Ferby pencils (6.89 inches).

Wonderful pencils for kids! More expensive than standard kids' pencils, but last longer. They've helped with proper grip. The 18-color set of Super Ferby ( http://smile.amazon.com/Unlacquered-Triangular-Millimeter-Assorted-3711180/dp/B004PLNE76 ) has almost all of the colors. If you're looking for more colors, you will find a different shade of purple in the Waldorf sets ( http://smile.amazon.com/Waldorf-Selection-Unlacquered-Triangular-3711121/dp/B004CRAKES ). The purple in the Waldorf sets is more magenta-purple, while the purple in the regular sets is darker and leans more toward blues than pinks. All the other Waldorf colors duplicate colors I have from the regular sets. If you're looking for maximum colors, I'd recommend the 18-color set, any one of the Waldorf sets, and the metallic set of 12 ( http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00177XHCS ). As you decide which set/s, consider which sets have white and black colors, and how important those colors are to you. "Ferby"s are the shorter size while "Super Ferby"s are the longer size. I don't think there is any other difference between Ferby and Super Ferber. The natural wood pencils are easier to grip without fingers sliding, while the painted ones are easier to color-distinguish when grabbing for colors in the pencil box. If I didn't care about having lots of colors, I would get the short (Ferby) size, with natural wood, for my 4-5yr old because the shorter pencils are a tiny bit easier than the longer pencils, for the little kids.

デッサン教室で使用しました。かきごごちは、よかったです。ただ同じ色、銀色が二本入っていました。ということは、一本入っていない色があったことに、なります。気づいたのが遅かったので、あきらめました。

These are the best crayons...The colours go on smoothly...shading is easier...and they certainly last longer--- hardly ...if ever break...( than less expensive crayons). Preschool teacher for many years and I offer other mediums...but the children always gravitate to using these for their pencil crayons over all the others I have purchased.

Se los compré sueltos ,a mi hija hace algun tiempo y he repetido su compra aquí en España hasta que la papelería dejó de venderlos "por falta de suministro en España". No he conseguido encontrarlos mas que en Amazón y estoy encantada porque tiene un surtido de colores pasteles precioso y a mi hija le encanta pintar con ellos , Tienen una mina blanda que ofrece un terminado muy agradecido.
