Sturdy and roomy
After buying a smaller shelf unit, it was just too confining. The receiver had no room for cooling as the shelves were too close together, and putting the receiver on the top shelf made no sense. After more extensive searching, I bought this AEON unit and it solved the problem. There's sufficient room between shelves for cooling, the shelves support heavier units, and are wide enough for my wife to put pretty things there. The "wood grain" effect isn't very convincing, but the blackness of the whole unit gives it a clean and modern look. I simply bolted the hanger to the wall, then hung the shelving unit from it. Of course, feeding all those wires between units and up through the wall was tedious but the shelving did a good job of hiding them.

Dangerous!
I installed this shelf using the hardware provided - it was installed securely using a joist as the support for the wall mounted bracket. I placed a sattelite DVR weighing about 3 pounds on the top shelf and an AV receiver that weighs approximately 15 pounds on the lower shelf. As I was stringing cables between components the entire shelf fell off the wall. The hardware affixed to the shelf - that sits over the wall mounted bracket came completely off the shelf -(see picture) - the screws holding it to the shelf were obviously too short and not strong enough to hold any additional weight beyond the glass shelves - which are very heavy. Fortuanately I was near the shelf when it became detached and was able to catch it.This product is dangerous and cannot possibly hold the claimed 35 pounds per shelf.

Sturdy but poor design
I would not recommend. This product is heavy and sturdy, which I like. However, it offers virtually no access to any wires behind it. You can't even fish wires through the top of it because the mounting bracket blocks this access. Once you get it loaded down with equipment, future changes are almost impossible. It's a terrible design.Update: Two weeks after I spent 6 hours painfully installing and fishing wires, my wife asked me to move my son's xbox to this TV. I told her I'd rather get a root canal and I was quite serious. I realized I had to make this sustainable because we change components every now and then and I can't block out Saturdays to do it. So, I modified the unit by cutting some 4"x8" oval access points in each shelf (3"x6" for top shelf) and covering with some small hole sheet metal. Now, fishing all the wires I need to is much easier. See pics. By cutting ovals, it shouldn't hurt the structural integrity too bad. If it breaks it breaks, but I simply couldn't use it the way it was. AEON, if you use my design I expect royalties.

The product came on time and in good shape. I'm using the component rack for my new home entertainment system. Some problems I'm having: the area for wires are to small: Shelves are to small for my receiver (hangs over glass). This will be the case with most receivers so be careful if you are using it for the same application.

A tremendous improvement
Did this Component Shelf Mount look nice once mounted? YES (Why? hides cables very well so installation looks clean and neat, glass shelves look great too!)Was it easy to assemble? NO (Why not? very heavy and difficult for one person to handle during assembly)Was it easy to mount on the wall? NO ( Why? 1.You need a wall stud to safely carry the combined load so you best find one and locate the installation there and 2. It needs to be mounted OFF the floor by about 4 inches to facilitate guiding and fishing the wires from bottom upward to each shelf - Sooo, there is some measuring that needs to be done to determine how high the hanger bracket must be located and 3. Some sort of string with a weight on the end needs to be fed downward from each shelf - to "pick up" the cable that must go to that shelf.)Hint: Start at the TOP shelf and fish each cable that goes there ONE AT A TIME then do the same for the second shelf and lastly the bottom shelf. TAKE CARE NOT TO LEAN ON - OR TOUCH - THE GLASS SHELVES WHILE YOU ARE THREADING THE CABLES TO THEIR DESTINATION SHELVES!!Was it worth the effort? Yes! Why? see the first comment!I think it would be worth hiring someone to assemble and install this unit you if you have any doubts about your ability to (or interest in) do this. You might even know a handy person who would do it or help!I gave this 4 stars because nothing is perfect!I would buy and install this again!Installed 15th of Dec 2017

All my components fit perfect!!
I ordered this shelf because of the with on the back side and the large shelfs. All my components fit perfect!!! I only needed to fish a few wires through the back of the unit. I actually cut a hole in the wall directly behind the middle shelf and feed all the wires though and back though another hole I made behind the tv. The wires on the "bedroom" side were covered with a painting, that way if I ever need to access the wires all I have to do is grab the painting and i'm there!!!Unit is pretty heavy and would need to be stud mounted. I was able to handle it myself, but I am a big man. Most people would probably need two people for this install.

It's great, accurate wall-stud mounting is crucial.
This thing is pretty awesome. It looks great. And it is heavy. The included mounting hardware was fine, after reading some reviews I had planned to get longer bolts and washers to make sure this thing wasn't going to move. I knew after looking the mounting hardware was going to be OK. You HAVE to get the bolts center on the wall studs, if you do, you won't have a problem. This thing is a center piece in my living room, it's great and holds a huge Onkyo 7.2 receiver (granted it sticks out a couple inches in the front, the foot pads are on the shelf itself).

Main frame broken in two
The main supporting frame was broken in two pieces (see pics). Other parts of the supporting frame were chipped. The box was held together with straps and not stapled. The styrofoam was all broken up and in shambles, not protecting the glass panels at all. All of which indicated it was a defective return. The "furniture grade" wood looked like cheap plywood painted black, not even sanded.
