With nearly 80 years in the business and hundreds of points of distribution in the U.S., Cole Haan is one of America's premier luxury brands. Founded in 1928 as a collaboration between Trafton Cole and Eddie Haan, Cole Haan epitomized artisan quality and impeccable craftsmanship during a time when style was everything. Originally, Cole Haan was a men's footwear label that captured the essence of the 20s spirit with beautifully-designed and well-made shoes for the dapper gentleman. Today, Cole Haan brings that heritage to all of its products, including men's and women's dress and casual footwear, belts, hosiery, handbags, small leather goods, outerwear and sunglasses.

Beautiful yet inherently flawed
Just to be clear: I REALLY want to give these boots 5 stars. However, because both pairs that I tried ended up having a serious flaw I simply can't recommend these boots.First off: The Pros! They are incredibly sturdy, stylish, and once they have been broken in (which takes three to four painful days) they are wonderfully comfortable. I could wear these all day any where and any time. The sole is rigid and well constructed ...Which brings me to the cons:The sole is not glued properly. That is to say that air is trapped between the rubber and the wood because the glue didn't seal properly. The result is an obnoxiously loud squeak that is easily overheard on a busy NYC sidewalk. I took them to my cobbler and he recommended I return the boot because it would be a $60 repair to resole the boot. These are $180 boots from a renowned shoe maker--I shouldn't have to pay an additional $60 to get my boot right.I exchanged the boots for a new pair which unfortunately suffered from the same problem. So now I have sent both back and am waiting for a refund. (A Huge Shout out to Amazon's amazing customer service!)Like I said, I really want to give these boots 5 stars but they seem to suffer from a serious flaw that I can't over look.

Bloody blisters for first 10 wears
Get ready for some righteous heel blisters as you break in these terribly hard and flat Cole Haan boots. On my first wearing, I had bleeding heel blisters on both feet that took a month to heal. The problem is the seam from the suede to smooth leather. It cuts like a knife. I had to attach moleskin to the inside of the boot and leave it there permanently in order to wear these boots without bleeding, but I still need to wear thick socks.I bought these as snow boots, and they are not warm. They are sturdy and attractive, so that's half the battle.

A great pair of boots
I ordered a full one size down from a size 11 to a size 10 as recommended on Nordstrom.com that also sells the same boots. However, Amazon had a better price. I have never been disappointed with the Cole Haan Brand. These boots don't look comfortable with the rugged looking sole, but I after putting them on I loved the fit and feel. The leather is supple and soft. The width could feel a little tight for some, as the width was just right for me, but my feet aren't wide at all. The sole was easy to bend after trying them on for the first time, but considering they weren't broken in yet, it was a good feel.

Boots arrived in perfect condition, no flaws
Ordered these after seeing the boot at Cole Haan who was unable to locate my size & color. The boot fit approximately 1 size lower than I usually take, so sizing in store was helpful. Boots arrived in perfect condition, no flaws. Fit is perfect but will need a few wearings to completely 'break in'. Leather is as pictured. Even better they were marked much less than retail.

The leather and suede are absolute top quality. They ...
The leather and suede are absolute top quality. They are a little bigger than I expected. I felt as though they lost a bit of their fashion sense and almost became work-type (construction-type) boots.

Great looking boot, quite large, questionable source.
Cole Haans usually run large and though I have other Cole Haan shoes In size 10,bthese boots are large even by that standard. The boots showed up in a generic cardboard box with no markings which seemed rather suspect. It was not a box that appeared to come from Cole Haan. More importantly, one of the boots arrived missing one of the grommets for the laces. As such, I have elected to send them back.

Order a full size smaller
Extremely comfortable and well made boot though simply runs a good full size large. Also the front foot area of the boot is wide which exacerbates the need for a good boot length fit. I typically where a size 11 to 11 1/2 shoe and the size 10 in this boot fit me best; 10 1/2 was too loose. In the end it's a great long term addition to the repertoire and definetly worth all the back and forth.
