For those wondering if these starfish and sand dollars are real, and concerned whether or not they were harvested:The seller states in the description that they are from the Gulf of Mexico. Yes, these were living sea creatures, but nothing has been "harvested". They are collected from the beach where they naturally get washed up by waves. If they are not already dead when deposited on the beach, they die a natural death within a very short time, usually within a few minutes. Some species of starfish die as quickly as 20-30 seconds without water.The seller wrapped each shell in a pouch of bubble wrap, then those pouches were wrapped in additional bubble wrap. This was placed inside a small box to protect them during shipping. All of mine arrived in pristine condition. I used them in a beachy display with some other items I purchased here on Amazon. Only these shells are real, the other items are resin (sea turtles) or glass (jellyfish and puffer fish). Even the 'sea glass' I used as my base is actually machine tumbled, recycled glass-which came from Michaels.

The sand dollars and starfish were exactly what was looking for to decorate this year’s tree. The starfish did smell pretty bad though. Fortunately there was a card in the delivery package saying this is normal, and that placing the starfish outside for a bit will help.I did this. They still kind of stink. So I sprayed them with bamboo scented Lysol. That helped more.

I was pleased with quality, size…a little pricey but worth quality
