Q: has anyone used these for running (not jogging ) and how did they hold up staying in place?

I use them at the gym cardio machines at the end of my workout . Have better grip than pi7. I don’t run outside at all nowadays.

Yes, one earbud can be worn at a time with audio.

Q: Can I change volume on the buds themselves or only through the phone?

You can only adjust the volume with your phone. Touching the earbuds while playing music - x1 play/pause, x2 fast/ahead, x3 fast/back.
